One of the guys on the church safety team has his own gun range and we decided to test some different pepper sprays and a Byrna "less lethal" Co2 pistol there today. Just four of us... The one thing I can tell you is I think I would prefer being shot than getting Sabre Pepper Gel in the face... we tested a can to see how accurate it is at about 15 ft and it works pretty good and then we were trying to figure out if it was really hot... no smell or aerosol at all to it and so I put the smallest drop in the world on the tip of my finger and touched it to my tongue ....almost went down on my knees it was so hot... took about 5 minutes for it to get down to a comfortable level in my mouth. the Byrna pistol was knocking holes in thick plastic at 20 ft and is pretty accurate.

And we did do some 'other' training... and I got to shoot a Ruger American bolt action rifle in .223... was tagging a 2" target at 100 yards.. but this rifle had a really nice scope on it.

We had a team at my church. Apparently the Archdiocese got wind of it and told the the priests to shut it down. So, we no longer have a coordinated "team". That's our story, and we are sticking to it.

Interesting for sure. Hard to understand liberals. Ok, you are against guns, but why not at least carry pepper spray? Rape while jogging, road rage, in the bedroom etc. But when I even mention Pepper spray, they give me the look like I just asked them to carry a duty gun. IMO Women are the most vulnerable victims in this world.
Good for you and your fellow members for trying out the spray. I have some I keep or use to keep on my dog leash (she passed away_ But would like to keep one in my vehicle. Road rage is a common thing now. Car Jacking etc. And as we know, if using lethal force, you a** is grass regardless if you are innocent or not. A good quality Pepper Spray might be a very practical weapon.
One question, can you keep it in a HOT car?

I saw the Bryna Co2 pistols. I have a number of co2 bb/Pellet pistols. Good news is they work in hot weather, not worth a damn in cold.

You have a wasp problem from the sound on things. A number wasp doray cans strategically located could save you from a lawsuit.

We had active shooter training at work. Basically crawl under your desk and wait to get shot. BUT, they showed a government video too. At the end of the video they have people cowering in a room as the shooter tries to break in. One guy is at the door waiting to attempt to bash the guy with a fire extinguisher. I immediately said “Screw that! Blast him with extinguisher at 20’ like he’s a fire.”
Some looked at me like I was nuts. Some, like me, grabbed 3 or 4 fire extinguishers from the garage after the meeting. There just happened to be a couple hundred stashed there from old prototype cars that were scrapped. Management had no clue.

Full disclosure, well sort of, the 'church' I belong to is the most liberal house of worship here in my town... most of you would be aghast ... Unitarian Universalist. The interesting thing is I am learning that I should not assume how people think. I am not the only member there who believes in the right to keep and bear arms and have the ability to defend both myself and others... In a way this is almost like being gay in a fundamentalist church. I am much more comfortable now that I've discovered others there of my persuasion. Also, there are a lot of members that know 'which way I swing' and we just don't talk about it. There is an unofficial don't ask, don't tell policy.

The seminar we did yesterday was about 5 hours.... we spent one hour on the pepper spray and Byrna pistol ... the other four was myself and the owner of the range instructing the other two folks on how to properly throw lead at steel plates.

Thanks for the tip about the pepper gel. I have 2 daughters, aged 17 & 19. I may equip both of them with some.

Just a tidbit of info

Do not leave your SABRE pepper spray in any area that may exceed 120° F (48.88° C) or drop below 32° F (0° C). Excessive heat or cold may cause the can to leak or burst. Do not store your SABRE pepper spray in your car.

I would add that for those that do not want a gun or maybe sending a daughter off to school or just for her car, a wire brush, screw driver and crescent wrench don’t look so dangerous beside the drivers seat or in a tool bag by her bed. Shove a wire brush in someone face a few times and that could give you a chance to get away! But that is only for where they can’t or those that won’t have a gun

We also tried some stuff one of the guys had bought for his daughters.... not sure of the brand or name but it was a joke... sprayed the liquid on a table and you could lap the stuff up... not sure what it was.
