RANDOM THOUGHTS...

I thought I would start a new thread where members may post a random thought. Not enough to write a soliloquy, but one sentence that crossed your mind. Multiple thoughts about different subjects would be good too. Let's try to keep politics out of this, so...
BASEBALL: As some here know, I am olde and I liked sitting back and enjoying a nice day of watching a baseball game, even if it goes on for hours or lots of extra innings where one can get their money's worth and then some. I like how close and/or comeback games have lots of suspense in them. Now with the clock on a pitcher/batter a lot of that is eliminated and one has to pay continued attention to the game, because if you look away for too long a moment, you might miss something. I just finished reading an article about how rules about the game have always been in flux, but this clock is ridiculous. When the ump comes out to penalize a batter or pitcher that takes away from the game. I am interested in the game, not the umps!
MOVIE REMAKES: Love 'em or leave 'em. Just read that the H.G. Wells War of the Worlds is going to be remade, yet again. My fave is the 1953 version which won an Oscar for best sound, visual effects (colors were great) and editing. A new version will probably be available on a larger screen with louder sound (too loud, and I am a little hard of hearing).
KITES: I bought a cheap plastic kite last week, but it was too windy to fly. It brought back memories of making our own kites out of painted water colored newspapers when I was very young. Playgrounds were fun then!

So what are your thoughts?

In case there’s any other self-proclaimed hicks on the board ……
Yeah, I had to look it up. :cautious:

  1. an act of speaking one's thoughts aloud when by oneself or regardless of any hearers, especially by a character in a play:
"Edmund ends the scene as he had begun it, with a soliloquy" · "he did most of his thinking by soliloquy"

Hittman, I stand corrected; just thought it was a long speech, verbal or written.

Oh I think you’re close enough for this redneck, writing it out works for me ….. just being honest that I had no clue what it meant!! :ROFLMAO:

And the worst thing about the clock in baseball is WHY it’s needed. Sorry, even this old retired guy ain’t got 4 HOURS to watch multi millionaires play 9 innings. Seems to be all “show” …. Step in the box, step out of the box, spit, adjust your cup, fiddle with your batting glove, spit, scratch your chin, move your wrist bands, tuck in your shirt, tie your shoe, spit, practice swing, look into your dugout and on and on.

There’e a “side by side” video on You Tube right now. I’ll try to find the link. In a game a few years back, ONE pitch was thrown in the same time a half inning was completed in a spring training game a few days back.

Oh, and shorten the season by about 50 games too.

Anyone else think about other things besides baseball?

So what are your thoughts?

My first thought after reading your post?

I like paragraphs.

As far as baseball goes?

I’m going back to the way it used to be. Back when baseball started there was no TV, or even radio. You only watched the game if you went to the ballpark.

If you didn’t go to the game? Next day you read the paper got the highlights and found out who won.

I cannot stand the advertising on every surface possible. Especially the digital overlays. Behind the batter, On the pitchers mound etc. I stopped watching hockey because the advertising on the boards constantly changing was too distracting.

Well, now that you open it up, I've been dwelling on the character of Job, in the Bible. Not of his trials, but of his position, and how he came to know what he knew. His concept of God predates all Scripture and his knowledge of the bodily resurrection is the most clearly stated in the Old Testament period.

He had great wealth of livestock, and how each of these critters contributed to his estate.

Wait. I just had a "thought" kinda like a long awaited bowel movement! At age 77 do I really want to invest the time to learn to shoot a dot sight instead of staying with iron sights for over 60 years?

Oh here comes a Second Thought! If I learn to shoot a dot will I lose the ability to shoot with iron sights?

I never think about sports at all. I have never understood the whole fan concept, i.e., being loyal to a team owned by some billionaire who lives far from the city that nominally is the home of the team, and with millionair players who fly in on their private jets for home games. And worst of all, it costs a fortune to actually attend a game and then adding insult to injury is the cost of a hotdog and a beer.

What I do think about is if I am a bad grandfather when I admit to myself that I just don't like some of my own grandchildren, but for appearance sake have to act like I do like them.

I also find that I think a lot about life, as I approach my 80th birthday, and have often said to myself "Is that all there is?".

Thinking out loud. Or being your own Narrator.

A dot makes it almost too easy. All you do is draw down on the sights like normal and there's the dot. After that see dot shoot. I'm almost as fast with my Max9 as I am with my Unlimited Class IPSC gun. Score might not be the same but decent hits almost as fast. I did the 40yd drill 10rnds in 3.8 seconds. Only 2 wouldn't have been stoppers alone.

I've become a puck magnet....skated two games and an hour of pickup play in the last week.
Sunday night took a HARD shot on the inside of my right knee just in between the pads, huge
nasty bruise and a lump of blood/hematoma. Wednesday managed to get hit in left ribs just under
and behind my shoulder pads...Damn!!! Last night playing pickup took a slap shot from an ex AHL player
on the SAME exact spot on the right knee, can you say "Ouch, golly gee that hurt".
Today and tomorrow were supposed to be my back to back long run days.....$%^# that.
I'm limping home from work early this afternoon and plan to do absolutely nothing till Monday. I'm tired,
beat up, and generally pissed off, told my wife I'll kill what ever interrupts my plan of lazy nothingness
this weekend! Going to lay in the whirlpool, eat my favorite take out lasagna, and drink some wine.

Please read the directions carefully, we feel like we have made it fairly easy to follow.
Directions for signing up for an online thing for my daughter’s school.

The directions turned out to be completely different from the actual process.

I spent most of the morning trying to figure it out.

BUT! It’s going to be a beautiful day here in Dallas Texas. I’m going to go wash my car.

I never think about baseball or any other sport unless it's on TV when my wife turns it on. My thoughts then are change the Chanel. I do spend too much time thinking about motorcycles and guns.
