my grandpas, stainless p89 perfect shape, 150 rds through it.
factory grips, houge grips, crimson trace grips, and 4 factory mags (10 rd)
$300 sounds great right?

and would the 15 rd mags work if i bought them?

thanks in advance!

Crimson trace grips? Those were worth close to $300 new!
Yes! $300 sounds great, even if it is a safety model KP89.

And yes, 15 round mags should work fine. Now some very early P89's took a different magazine and it could be one of these, I would not even worry about this until after I had the gun in hand.

sounds good thats what i was thinking.
my gpa bought the gun after 9-11 and it just sat till October. The i started getting into guns and i cleaned and lubed his up and we went shooting. Ive taken care of the gun since it was a baby :)
then this Christmas I bought him the Laser grips for 240 bucks! which i thought was a steal.
all he wants for it is what he paid when it was new so $300 bucks.
but he is going to buy a LCP :)

@2fast4u
Good to hear; I owned two but family and in-laws. They were real accurate and miss them. They have good homes now protecting my nieces.

Good Shooting,

i wanted it because i love the p89 and because it was his.
its just a plus that they don't make them anymore so the value will only go up :)
he looked and he found the case and owners manual so that's good 2!
like i said he just wants a LCP so if its a little more than $300 im going to give him the difference to get it( tax etc..)

but that p89 shoots so good,i shot about 1/2 the rounds that went through the gun. i would almost say its more accurate than my SR9, but i think that's mostly because the trigger is so sweet in SA mode.

he was talking about selling it to his other friend and as soon as i heard that i told him i'll take it!!!!

so i started wrapping change and got 233 bucks out of my quarters nickles and dimes so its going to cost like $70 out of pocket

went today and got my permit to buy a pistol now i just have to wait till Friday to pick it up.

i took my CPL class but i have to wait till Im 21 to turn in the paperwork and then 1-3 months to get the license... i wish i had it right now

I am also thinking about getting something memorable engraved on it. but that can come later

Just a question, more of a curiosity tho....guessing it's a state regulation thing. Texas is simple :).

You said you got your permit to buy a pistol, yet you already have an SR9, but your not 21 yet.

Was my understanding that it was a Federal (not state) law that you had to be 21 to get a Handgun, 18 for a Long-gun.

Josh

in Michigan you can have a handgun at 12 if its passed on my a deceased family member.
at 18 you can buy a pistol from a private owner.
but you must wait till your 21 to buy "new" from a FFL dealer.
even though you must be 21 to buy pistol ammo, still "gifts" of ammo are ok.

and unless you have a CPL, each time you buy a pistol you must get a purchases permit.

does anyone know what model of the p89 just says "RUGER P89" on the slide?
it decocks but if its left on if you pull the trigger it doesn't move the hammer
that decocker/safety right?

Can't answer your question, but thanks for answering mine, was a tad confused. Like I said, TX is pretty simple when it comes to owning guns.

Michigan isn't that bad, once you read the laws 2 or 3 times *roll eyes*

when you go for the permit you must take a 15 question "basic pistol safety questionnaire" you must get a 70% or better which is easy as breathing
BUT
there is only 1 tricky question on there

Michigan law states that a stolen firearm must be reported within 5 days

look at number 6 below

well to me 5 days IS within 1 year, but they want you to put false so basically its a trick question.

1. You should treat every pistol as if it were loaded. (True or False)

true

2. You should always keep the barrel pointed in a safe direction. (True or False)

true

3. You should never put your finger on the trigger until ready to fire at a proper target. (True or False)

true

4. When passing or receiving a pistol to or from another person, the action should be open and the pistol visually checked to make sure it is not loaded. (True or False)

true

5. It is illegal to sell a pistol to a person under 18 years of age. (True or False)

true

6. The law requires a person to report the theft of his or her pistol to police within one year. (True or False)

False but according to the wording should be true

7. A person is permitted to transport a pistol for a lawful purpose if the owner or occupant of the vehicle is the registered owner of the firearm and the pistol is unloaded and in a closed case in the trunk of the vehicle. (True or False)

true

8. When storing a pistol, for safety reasons the ammunition should never be stored separately from the pistol. (True or False)

False

9. The law requires that when presenting a pistol to police for a safety inspection, the pistol is unloaded and encased or equipped with a trigger locking mechanism. (True or False)

true, but you do not have to have an inspection anymore....

10. When storing a pistol it should be unloaded and placed in a safe place out of the reach of children. (True or False)

True

11. Possession of a pistol while under the influence of alcohol is unlawful. (True or False)

True

12. A person can be held criminally and civilly liable for wrongfully pointing or discharging a pistol at another person. (True or False)

True

13. The first step to cleaning a pistol is to make sure it is unloaded. (True or False)

True

14. Dropping a loaded pistol will never cause an accidental discharge if the safety is on. (True or False)

False

15. Bullets fired at flat surfaces will never glance off in an unpredictable direction. (True or False)

False

No permits or registration needed here in sunny Florida. If you are 21 you can buy a handgun. Just need a drivers license.
You can turn 21 and buy one out of somebodies trunk.
I like that.
That's the way it should be everywhere.

Yeah it should, most of those questions are similar to what we had to take here for our TX Hunters Ed. Course. Take like an hour of classes and your able to hunt (as a teenager) without an adult's supervision. There's an actual age requirement but I can't remember it atm.

Least you know the ins and outs.
