How long will my Security 380 last?

Well, I’m a reloader so that helps but even as a reloader, I’m going through a thousand rounds a month at a reloading cost of fifteen cents a round so that’s about $150 a month to try to become proficient enough to carry concealed all the time.

This will sound snarky, but if you aren't fairly proficient after a thousand rounds a month, you shouldn't have a gun. Fifty rounds a day, five days a week and you should be able to hit a gnat's eye with that gun.

I use Titegroup for my 9mm and 45 ACP range ammo, without issues.

For some reason the LCP wouldn't extract properly with TG. I found some Bullseye and tried it on 380 loads, cycles 100% with that.
Good to know, thanks!

you don’t sound snarky, you just sound like my wife! Actually I have gotten reasonably proficient at various distances, a bit faster with more accuracy, and improving my accuracy as I’m moving fast. There is much yet to work on and I’m having fun in the process.

You can join Target Sport USA for $100 a year to get free shipping and 8% off their price to the general public. I've been buying 9mm New Republic, or Blazer Brass 115 and 124 gr for .21 cents per rd with no shipping cost and fast delivery. The cheapest .380 I've found is the TSUSA New Republic for .26 cents per rd. You can buy the New Republic 9mm for 6 cents a round more than the cost of reloading the .380. Additionally you can get lots of basically free training with the cost of the MantisX training system. The new Mantis Titian laser pistol is only $200 with their Mantis device built into the pistol. Many highly required profession trainers will recommend dryfiring practice-lots of practice, but it has to be practiced correctly and a method for getting feed back-Mantis helps a lot. Additionally don't discount live fire practice with the .22lr. Stance, sight pic, trigger control, grip control etc. are the same as with center fire except for recoil control for fast, accurate follow-up shots. I've taken a number of classes from Karl Rehm-KRtraining Systems. He recommends 10 dry fire snaps for every live round shot. But each trigger pull has to be thoughtful, intentional with focused attention to what is happening and feed back as to the results. Thousands of rounds of just punching holes in paper or ringing a plate without intentional thoughtful practices, IMO, skill level will plateau soon without thoughtful training. You can also learn a lot from some of the better Youtube channels. I especially like Tactical Hyve channel. https://www.youtube.com/@TacticalHyve

Best practice ever is one round a day.

You either did or you didn't, and that trigger squeeze plays over and over.

Learned that from an old long bow shooter.

That ten to one rule sounds like a really good idea, wise discipline if one stick with it. I really enjoy the range, and I find reloading very enjoyable as well, but I don’t spend enough time in dry fire which is my shortcoming. Maybe that should be one of my new year resolutions. Ten to one. That’s doable!

Craig check out the Mantis website. The X10 you attach to your firearm(s). The Titian is a stand alone laser pistol with a Mantis device built in. The app you get with the purchase is wonderful. It will make you a better shooter as it gives feed back and instructions and fun to play with. I have about 30,000 snaps with the Mantis system and a lot over the years with a SIRT laser pistol. If you are interested in more specific details send me a PM.
