Well it just keeps gettin better with me and my new Savage mark 2. I had to remove the rear sight to mount the scope with medium rings and I went ahead and removed the front as well just to make it even so to speak. Now I was about to mount my scope for good as I blue locktited the base and have waited 24 hrs to dry. I now see that the base is backwards, i put the front at the rear and the rear at the front. Now I am afraid i could strip the screws out by trying to change it back. I don't have anything to clean the old locktite off either. Has anyone else did this? I have mounted scopes for years but lately i sure do mess up. This rail is the Monstrum and has a cut out for ejection that is now in the wrong place. I called Monstrum and they said it may still eject ok and to make sure my eye relief is good because some people do this on purpose to get the eye relief depending on the size scope. I have tested with ammo and it does eject as it ejects straight back even with the receiver and not up. If I switch it the way it was intended I will admit that I will have to go forward on the gun some as my eye relief does change and isn't where I like it. What would y'all do if you were me? Keep it backwards with good eye relief or switch it so it looks good and is mounted as intended? Thanks

If you've got a good-fitting screwdriver, blue loctite shouldn't provide much of a challenge to removal. That's what the blue is for -- stuff you might need to take off again.

For me, having the scope positioned properly for comfortable use, with good eye relief, would be the highest priority. If I was planning to sell the rifle without ever using it, I might consider remounting the base so it looked 'right'.

As always IMHO, FWIW, YMMV, etc.
:)

I decided I would try and remove it as that would make sure the ammo would eject after shooting. It was hard but they came loose, glad they were torx. No blue in base holes in receiver but the screws are covered.

As long as you used Blue Loctite and have a proper fitting screwdriver, the screws will come out without a lot of difficulty. Blue Loctite was made to be removable, it stays on the threads (as you have seen) not on the tapped holes. Red, Black and Purple are almost non removable unless you apply heat to the screw. Pulling the screws and mounting the base correctly, you won't regret doing that.
