I've been looking for some nice sights for my Alaskan, now that I've fixed it (used gun purchase). I was surprised how few options are there for this gun. There's a Hi-Viz fiber optic front sight. Pretty much no specific fiberoptic rear sight that I'm aware of, though I suppose one could buy a set for non-Alaskan Super Redhawks or for the GP100 (Hiviz, Williams, etc), use the rear sight and get the aforementioned Hiviz front sight. That was my plan for a while. Then, watching a video on YT by Dayattherange, I found out about the DL Sports... they offer a fiber optic front sight (longer than Hiviz, possibly picking up more light). Also a plain black serrated rear sight. Both look good, but damn... $150 for the rear sight and $90ish for the front... and you still have to install it just like the factory sight, drilled and pinned in place. I was looking for some adjustable/removable option and so I found the Bowen Classic Arms. They make several models of rear sight (including an "express" style wide V-notch that I like) and also a front sight base that accepts DX style sights. Now we're talking! However, the sight base has to be placed into a slot that needs to be milled into the barrel top rib. I'm not equipped to do that, so I'd have to find a gunsmith that is... I wanted to have the cylinder cut for moonclips anyway, so I guess I can have it done both at once, as I really like the idea of easily interchangeable front sights on the Alaskan.
Wondering if anyone did/had it done and coud possibly share some experience.
