I just purchased a New model single six with a base pin problem. Can you cause much damage with a bad base pin. I have not seen it yet, anything I should look out for.

I'm not sure the plunger on the pin came out I'm hoping that's the extent of it, just replace the pin. I was wondering if it can cause other issues.

No other issues! You just have to point the gun up to cock it so the transfer bar doesn't hang up on the firing pin. The little plunger in the rear end of the cyl pin keeps the transfer bar pushed to the rear.

This is the number for parts: (336) 949-5200. Probably the same number you're calling.

I know, late to the party but...Have you checked to see if the plunger in the end of the base pin is "glued in" by gunk so that the spring can't push it out to operate?

I don't have it in my possession as of yet I just closed the deal on it. I was looking for a new model single six used came across this one it is actually pretty nice compared to what I was thinking I would accept. Hope to have something like the plunger being stuck or just a new pin needed

In general,, the only two issues I could think of in a base pin,, would be a slightly bent pin,, or in the case of a NM,, the stuck pin that is supposed to push the transfer bar.

Broad inquiry...the base pin is pretty simple.....what exactly did they say the problem was?......hard to diagnose with your description. Base pins can turn and be "difficult".

All I know is they told me the base pin was faulty. I was concerned that they might damage something trying to cycle it. The gun will be in my hands soon. Ruger is sending a new base pin to me.
