Buckeye
This morning , as Juanita was feeding the dogs and giving them their meds our oldest dog Fraida wasa eating her food and jus turned to get one of her meds from Juanita , she yelped and stumbled off about 10 feet and fell over . At first I thought she may have had a stroke ,she was an old lady, she turned 16 in June but as I was checking her out I realized that something was wrong with either her spine or hips. We rushed her to the emergency vet, the whole time she was literally screaming in pain . After the vet gave her some pain meds and did an X Ray it was clear on the X-Ray that a disk had burst about 1/2 way down her back . The vet said that there were two methods of treatment one being surgery, the other meds, but there was no guarantee with either and given her age that she had a poor chance of recovery from any thing that required her to be completely sedated .
We had the choice to bring her home and take her to her regular vet tomorrow , but that the shot of pain killer would wear off in just a few hours and she would spend a night in horrible pain . This left us with only one real option, one I've been through way too many times before.. so with many a tear we decided to do the only fair thing for her, and that was to put her down.
My heart is broken for myself as I really loved her, but more so for Juanita as she was definitely a Mama's girl and to see my beloved wife in such pain and anguish over having to make that call I'm just torn up. Juanita has been in tears most of the day and it really hasn't set in with her yet.
I humble ask y'all for your prayers for Juanita as she deals with loosing her beloved pet.
That dog lived for her to come home from work every day and would follow her around the house till bed time when she would get up on the bed and sleep with her head on Juanita's pillow . Here's a few pics of Fraida in better times .
Were sure gonna miss that dog. She was sooo gentle and loving . Every time I loose one of my dogs, I loose a little bit of my self .
