22 convertible

About 30 years ago, I bought a Ruger single six 22 LR/22 Mag convertible. I was disappointed that the two different types of ammo with different cylinders shot to significantly different points of aim, so I got rid of it after a few months. Has that problem been fixed in recent 22 convertibles?

If I understand your comments, you got a Single-Six convertable, that uses two totally different calibers and you want them both to hit the exact point of aim? THe 22 LR is a lower powered round vs the 22 mag. With everything else being equal, yes, you are going to experience different points of impact when aiming at the same spot. It will happen with the 9mm/357 convertables as well. The physics cause this, NOT a problem with the guns.

For the .22 you also have a slight bore size difference between the Magnum and the LR cartridges which also added to your accuracy issue. I'd snag another one and enjoy!

The .22WMR (.22 magnum) bullets are more powerful, so once fired, they drop closer to the ground more slowly than .22LR bullets. So the magnum bullets will hit the same target in a higher spot.

I would set the sights for .22 mag, then set them for the .22LR, keeping track of how many "clicks" difference there is in the setting. Then just remember the difference or write it down somewhere handy. Most, if not all, of the difference will be in the height, not left or right.
