GP100 357 or Blackhawk 357/9mm convertible?

I have a Stainless 4” GP100 357 and 2 357 Blackhawks 4 5/8”, 1 stainless and 1 blue. I’m trying to decide on another 357. I know where a late 70’s New Model Blackhawk blue 4 5/8” 357/9mm is for about $590 OTD. Also know where a 2024 NIB stainless 4” GP100 is for about $635.

Just trying to figure it out.I don’t know about the quality of the new Rugers.

I just sold a 2.5” Talo blued GP100. That’s why I’m looking for another one. In the GP I prefer stainless steel

Sounds like you already have examples of both. If you don't reload the 9mm cylinder will save you some money, it may fit in your other Blackhawks too.

If you reload for your .357's now, there is no need to have a 9mm cylinder. No need to have another Blackhawk.

If you carry your current GP100, I would get a duplicate of that, I like to have a spare for my carry gun.

If you don't carry it, I would look for a different GP, to have some variety. Or a similar.22 revolver for cheap training/practice.

Yes, same thing. Just a newer year model 2024. The one I have now is. 2011

I would vote to get some diversity going on. More of the same gets you, well, more of the same.
If you only want Rugers look at a 4" Sp101.
If you can step out of the box, the new S&W 66-8 or a newish 686 are both very well-made guns.
To TRUELY know if you love the Rugers you have you have to have something to compare against.

I know where I'd stand... blued SAs all the way. But that is just one man's opinion . The 9mm cylinder is kind of useless... Never use mine.

I’ve got some Smiths too.Ive had some SP101’s , I never cared for them too much.

If you can get a stainless Gp100 in the $600's then you should grab that. I couldn't find one cheaper than $800 around me

Good choice. I also have the .357 Mag Blackhawk, but with no 9mm cylinder. I shoot both .357 Mag guns, and the Blackhawk is more for accuracy, and I use to quick draw with it, and I still have the western holster. I have not yet shot the real high end powerful loads thru the GP100, but double action is nice..

We have a 9mm/357 mag Blackhawk. The revolver is fun to shoot and the 9mm is accurate but more fussy than 38s/357 mag to find an accurate load.

Don't take it as a negative comment, please, but I have never understood why anyone would buy more than one of any type of gun.
Variety is the spice of life,it's been said. It increases ones objectivity and ability to evaluate the differences.
You asked for opinions, and mine is get a Smith,or if you can afford it, and Colt. The SP101 is still a Ruger, but different...

I own a few 357's. I think my next factory Ruger 357 will probably be a NM Flattop 4-5/8", but the silly little gripframe must go. I'll use a brass Wells on it instead. I can shoot with the pinkie curled under the frame with an xr-3 Red, but not with two fingers curled under on the kid size frame of the new Flattop

I have got multiples of several guns.AK's SKS's,AR's, Single sixes , MKII's, 10/22's,Blackhawks,Gp100's,J-frames and the list goes on!

Just got this. LOVE it. Shot 38 Special & 9 mm. Both ran great.
