13th Annual Ruger Forum East Coast Gathering

As usual,, time seems to pass faster & faster. In a little more than a month from now,, we'll be hosting the "13th Annual Ruger Forum East Coast Gathering" at my place.

What; A friendly, relaxed fun time on my gun range enjoying shooting, fellowship, tall tale swapping, eating & in general just a "gathering" of like minded folks.

Dates; Friday evening September 29th, through Sunday Oct 1st. Main day for most will be Saturday Sept 30th at my range.

Where; Hawkeye Gun Range at 2373 Owl Hollow Rd. Mill Spring NC.

Who; This is an open invitation event. Members of the Forum, friends, etc. are all welcome. All I request is a confirmation of who's coming. That way we can plan the food. We do a "low country boil" for Saturday evening at the range. For the folks who arrive on Friday afternoon/evening,, we have a little stuff at my house.
Some folks bring snack stuff for lunchtime at the range on Saturday to be shared with everyone. (There is a grocery store about 1/2 mile from my range. it also has a deli.)

Many folks stay in a nearby town, Forest City, due to the higher expenses charged by the tourist places here in Lake Lure & Chimney Rock. Some folks do stay in Chimney Rock or Lake Lure. The drive time from downtown Lake Lure or Chimney Rock is about 10 minutes. From Forest City about 25 minutes.

If anyone is interested, the least expensive rooms at Lake Lure Inn run about $129 a night. Fees and everything.

I'll bring water and soft drinks in a cooler on Saturday.... One of these days I'm going to make the Friday night festivities.
Heck, I was thinking the other day that I might bring my collection of Rugers......
But I do need to bring the Gibbs rifle I bought from Ron in Pa.... it has the darnedest trigger on a rifle I've ever encountered.

Now that I think about the name of the Manufacturer of that Rifle... it really creates a question for a different post.

Well, perhaps we should talk it up! It's pretty fun, and every time I go, Contender or someone else gives me pointers on how to shoot better.

For what it's worth: I've been shooting most of my life but can always learn something new.

Also the fact that everyone is open to letting others shoot their guns. I've gotten to shoot so many different pistols this way. What could be better than that?

Wish I could make it, but with the price of gas a near 3000 mile trip (one way) is a no go. I always enjoy the pictures. It looks like a great time. You folks have fun.

Ride1949, If you were to come,, that would be the longest distance anybody had ever come. So far,, Texas, Florida, Mass,. & Pa. are the long distance travelers.

We really need name tags at this thing... seems like I kind of supplied them a few years back... I recognize everyone but can't for the life of me retain most of you guys and galls names, both forum and real world.

I've got a box of give away items for this year and some are quite collectable, at least I think they are.
