Sure, The single engine Texan IIS are for primary training. After Primary you are selected for Multi Eng, Helos, or Jets. If you are selected
to fly Multi. C-130, E2s, C2s or whatever you would fly the King Airs that you see. If you were going to fly Jets you would go to Kingsville to fly the T-45.By the way Son went through all three of the Navy Pipelines. Helo, Jet, and Multi.

Jim - Do you know any of the folks at Mid America Flight Museum in Mt Pleasant?? Scott Glover in particular? Just curious ... They just bought a Piper Apache on floats from my brother Tim up in Maine.

If it was an Apache twin with 150 Lycomings it's a miracle the thing could get off the water. I took my first multi training in a Apache 150. That thing should never have been certified. On one engine it only widened the radius that you could ditch in.

WOW an Apache on Amphib floats. You don't see that everyday it is the only one. Looks like it has 160HP Lycomings on it.

The Grumman Duck they have is a pretty special Duck. It was at Pearl on Dec. 7 and was submerged in a lake from 1955. It is the only one of that model and one of 3 Ducks flying. The Guy that rescued it and started the rebuild had the hangar next to Son while Son was in Bremerton WA. The owner realized it was way to much work and money so he sold it so it would be completed.
"The aircraft suffered a crash landing on Lake Killarney near Nassau in the Bahamas in 1955. The aircraft sank, and lay abandoned underwater until 1991 when William Floten and Kevin Hooey salvaged the wreck and shipped it to Miami for storage while searching for more components to mount a rebuild effort".
