Single Six - trigger reset

Just picked one up a almost new, I just noticed the trigger does not always reset after dry firing it (with snap caps) using the 22lr cylinder, it works fine with the 22mag cylinder in. I checked the numbering on both cylinders and they match. It is almost if I touch the hammer or push it a little to the left it resets.

I do not know much about revolvers other than I like to shoot them, so if I come off as confused that will be why.

The usual reasons it hangs up are:

The transfer bar is a little too thick. Pull the hammer back slightly and see if the trigger pops out.
One or both legs of the trigger return spring under the grips are not hooked up.
The trigger is rubbling in the trigger slot.

It's odd that it only happens with one cylinder. The cyl should have no effect on the trigger.

Yes, if I just put a little pressure (pull or push to the side) on the hammer, the trigger pops out.

I will remove the grips, to see if something looks out of place. But not sure what to look for.

It does look like the hammer is rubbing on the left.......in looking at it, there is a gap on the right side of the hammer to the frame and tight on the left. I tried adding a little oil in-case it was rubbing but no difference.

The hang up is intermittent, only about 3 out of the 6 cylinder rotations hang up and only with the LR cylinder. Odd indeed...

What a great looking and feeling little revolver though, but I will like it better once I am past this issue.

Well I took it out and shot it today and seems to have helped - almost fixed the issue. I did not notice it hanging up while shooting, I was so excited to almost be hitting the target. :lol:

Only one hang up when I got home in twelve pulls of the trigger. Guess it just needs to break-in a little.

Thanks, I cannot see the hammer move forward while testing per the link. What was apparent, was the trigger hangs up almost 90% of the time when I release it slowly.

But I did notice when the hammer is at rest, it is definitely not centered. If I push it a little to the right it creates a small gap on both sides of the hammer to the frame (centered). Also on the hammer there are small scratches in the areas that appear to set tight to the frame.

Were both trigger spring legs hooked over the pin?

If the hammer is let down slowly but not allowed to go far enough to touch the transfer bar and the trigger still sticks, the trigger must be rubbing in the slot and it will have rub marks on one or both sides which will show you where it's hangiung up.
Sand and polish the side of the hammer, transfer bar surfaces and trigger until you don't get any new scratches.

Are all the grip frame screws tight? Are all the pins in solid?

You nailed it, no they were not! After work today I removed the grips and wallah one side not hooked. Working like a champ now. I will get time in the next few days to check out the videos, need to learn more about the firearms I like too shoot.
