yes, about anything that interferes with the cylinder trying to be rotated, can be a cause and effect, same goes back into the lockwork....will never forget many years ago, the first old gunsmith that I asked a question of , took various revolvers and slathered them in toothpaste, and worked the actions ,over and over, and yes, it actually worked to smooth things out...later on I often used 'lubriplate' that we used on camshafts and voila, that too worked :unsure: ....ALL "pre Bubba", the kitchen and backyard gun plumbers:cool:;)
