When I cock my Security Six, it seems like the transfer bar is binding. The hammer gets stiff and the suddenly looks back. What could the problem possibly be?

yes, about anything that interferes with the cylinder trying to be rotated, can be a cause and effect, same goes back into the lockwork....will never forget many years ago, the first old gunsmith that I asked a question of , took various revolvers and slathered them in toothpaste, and worked the actions ,over and over, and yes, it actually worked to smooth things out...later on I often used 'lubriplate' that we used on camshafts and voila, that too worked  ....ALL "pre Bubba", the kitchen and backyard gun plumbers:cool:;)

When you have it open and spin the cylinder, watch the ejector rod to see if there is any wobble. If none, I'd take it completely apart (remembering the ejector rod is left handed threads) and clean it really good and lube where it goes through the crane. It should spin VERY easily. And while you have it disassembled, you might as well give all the other parts a good cleaning also. I've had other Sixes come into the shop with the complaint that it wasn't easy to cock, DA was hard, etc. etc. I would take them completely apart, and they would first get a long bath (30 min) in the ultrasonic bath and then inspected, lubed, and reassembled and VOILA, smooth as a babies butt after a bath.

good for you , gotta love it when a plan works out, and as noted usually something simple and easy........usually at any given show , a problem revolver will come up, and MOST of the time a simple check ( like for the powder under the extractor star) and three, four drops of Kroil and all is well, and NO charge..........(y)(y)
...Always, GOOD 'PR'...;)
