OM Single Six ejector rod

So, I have had this gun for a while, it is an old model Single Six Flatgate, not converted. The gun works perfectly, locks up tight, no issues. Except one. Unlike every other old model I have ever owned, included a couple other Flatgates, this one doesn't line up the chamber with the ejector rod just right. I have to advance the cylinder until just before the hand catches the back of the cylinder in order to eject the spent shells. If you go until the cylinder stops you went too far for the rod to enter the cylinder. It's almost just like a new model, which is weird. Like I said, it has not been converted, and operates just fine besides this one issue. All the screws are perfect, no sign of anyone ever taking it apart. The only thing I could come up with was maybe they attached the ejector rod housing a little off when it left the factory many moons ago, although it looks just fine too. Anyone have any thoughts?

Probably nothing wrong with your ejector rod but your revolver has a timing issue. find a good gunsmith.

How could it have a timing issue when everything else works fine? It does what it supposed to do with each click of the hammer, and I have not had any bullet spitting or any signs that it is out of time. At full cock the cylinder stop is engaged and it's locked tight. I have not taken apart yet, but I have worked on old models in the past. Guess I will just to see if everything looks OK.

Any chance the ejector rod is slightly BENT...??

OP, is the ejector rod round (the rod portion itself)? Or does the rod have a flattened profile on one side of about three quarters of its length?

It is round. It does not appear to be bent at all.

I think you will find that in the old model Single Six ,when the gun is "in battery" ( locked in place ,ready to fire , the hammer all the way rearward), the ejector rod will NOT go into the adjacent chamber ,enter the front of the cylinder to 'empty' ( or even line up) , the hammer should be at half cock, the cylinder "loose" ( in neutral?) and you can line up that few degrees difference, to allow the ejector rod to empty the chamber. Yes the ejector rod should be round ...........the flattened, or tapered ejectors were for the centerfire guns, , Blackhawks, with the difference in their chamber diameters ( calibers)
If it does not "turn ,rotate to allow the rod to eject,then you got an issue with the cyl stop, or the pawl/ratchet configuration. the pawl spring in the frame backwards??? gotta actually "look, see" just what it is going,,,them "clicks" tell you what's happening.;)
