The latest reason spouted is that the cold weather caused the balls to be under inflated. That of course only happened on the Patriots side of the field. The other side of the field was apparently warmer and the balls remained at the required pressure.

Perhaps one team had their BALLS inflated to the MAXIMUM pressure and the other team to the MINIMUM; Thus one team's pressure would drop to BELOW the minimum while the other teams balls remained in the range BUT at a LOWER pressure.

I'm tired of hearing about this, as it is ruining the anticpation of the upcoming game. As already stated the ref's were always handling the game balls on both teams, and only once was a ball changed during the game. If the Pat's had a slight advantage of being able to hold on to the ball because of it being under inflated, it doesn't explain why the Colts played so poorly with their footballs, which had the required (normal) pressure. Isn't that what all players should be used to, as they are professional football players? To me this is an non-issue, as the Colts lost 45-7, but I could see if the game was very close, then there might be reason for all the fuss. This is my view, yours may differ. LM

Show me an official NFL statement showing the results of the testing of both sides balls. Then I will believe. The NFL says they didn't do anything wrong- that I believe!

Actually that is a good argument. I would like to know if all 24 of the balls were manufactured in the same batch. Football valves are fairly simple. I doubt they have improved them in the last 50 years.
They do tend to leak. Laying on the table they will eventually go flat. They also burp a little when you kick them, fall on them, or celebrate with them when they are slammed to the ground in the end zone.

The real villain here is the rule. After the official checks them they should remain in his possession instead of putting them back in the training room.

I always think its funny when a coach or a player cries foul. Knowing that they all do everything possible themselves to win a game. I know I did...

Who's the chump? There's a game to be played. I'm sure that the game balls will be properly inflated. The balls used in the Colts/Patriots game have nothing to do with the upcoming game. And the billions of dollars to be generated will still be generated. Let's move on to the game. The investigation of the alleged incident will run its course in due time. So far, there is no definitive culprit identified. And there won't be, not before next Sunday. No punishment handed down, no decisions made. Let's just watch and enjoy the competition between two excellent teams.

After hearing and seeing all the media publicity on the "Deflated Balls" controversy, will someone please educate me a little.

As I understand it, in the football game(s) each team supplies the balls that that team will use when on offense. If this is true, then the Patriots used the "deflated" balls on offense for themselves.

I well remember that when I played football as a youngster, any ball that was deflated, or under inflated, did not have the range of a properly inflated ball when kicked, passed, etc. For example an under inflated ball could not be kicked as far or properly on kickoff, field goal, etc. The ball needed to be properly inflated to be used to its potential.

So, if the Patriots were using under inflated balls they would have been handicapping themselves, not getting any unfair advantage over the other team that was using properly inflated balls.

If this the case, then what's the "beef"? The Patriots would not have unfairly cheated for any advantage. In fact they would have handicapped themselves.

I'm pretty sure kicking balls are a different batch of balls. They only use them for kicking. Supposedly an under inflated ball, to what degree I don't know, is easier to catch.
Of course the Pats blew away the Colts, so I doubt if it made a bit of difference.
