No one cheated

Illegal equipment, to gain an advantage, is cheating in any sport.

Cheating and cheaters should be punished or else the rules are undermined and the sport becomes pointless.

I agree purposeful cheating was involved. That said nearly every offensive and defensive lineman and most cornerback engage in cheating on every play, it's called holding, against the rules but they all do it.

The answer seems SO SIMPLE to me.

STANDARDIZE THE DAMN BALLS!.
Before I heard "DEFLATEGATE" I just assumed both teams used the same balls.

JMHO,
Every game should use new footballs, at a standard pressure.
No quarterback having access to a dozen they prefer, beforehand.

No "BREAKING IN" a ball in any way.

Let the game be won or lost by the player's skills, not by "adjusted" equipment.
{AND NO,not saying air psi was adjusted, just saying ....take that possibility
outta the loop.}

Personal opinion....
Those BALLS might have shriveled smaller cause----STEROIDS!
JUST A THOUGHT

I find it interesting that you feel this way about a GAME, but not real life.

Interesting that a mod encourages personal insults in the lounge, nothing new though.

btw, What happens when some team is caught cheating with illegal equipment in NASCAR? --- They get punished and right away.

What happens if the balls were inflated with super heated air, and then subjected to a very cold environment? Would that not affect the internal air pressure?

Yes and as already stated Neil Degrasse Tyson debunked the air temp difference by stating the pressure differential would require the balls to have been inflated with 125 degree air. Can we just follow the guidelines, fine and take away the appripriate amount of draft picks, and move on?

Why stop with fines and loss of draft picks? Might as well add on no televised games, suspension of Brady for a year, banishment of Belicheck for life and the public execution of Bob Kraft. Hell, why not just disband the team?

Because that's what the rule book says would be the discipline for such an offense. There are regulations and punishments for not following the regulations that both the owners and players agreed upon in the CBA. It's simple.

Chief, I haven't seen an analysis on hot internal air and pressure vs. a cold environment and the resultant changes, if any. 125° is not extremely hot. 30° outside temperature would be near a 100° difference. My curiosity is sincere...

Well, golly-gee-wiz, the air seems to be leaking out of the NFL investigation, pun intended. Now, sources report that only ONE ball was two pounds under regulation pressure, a few were closer to one pound under, and half were "just a few ticks under" the minimum. A far cry from 11 of 12 balls two pounds under. And just what can a person do in 90 seconds behind a closed door to 12 footballs?

The rush to judgement and punishment by some appears to be juuuuust a little premature, no? Meanwhile, artificial crowd noise seems to be the controversy du jour now. I wonder if . Seattle, K.C. and even the Colts would stand up to scrutiny? The Colts have had allegations . Of piped in crowd noise in the past, as have had other teams.

But when the final game had ended, the Patriots won, fair and square. The better team, with the better quarterback and better coaching staff, outplayed the the other team. They didn't need to cheat to beat the reigning NFL champs. They simply had to play the game.

As the OP title states, no one cheated.

Of course, Robert Irsay of the Colts is such a believable source.

The wheels are falling off faster than air from a deflated football. I wonder if there is an Integrity Clause in the NFL charter. If Irsay and the Colts are found to be complicit in the propagation of Deflate-gate, what, if any, should the punishment be?

Hey titanx; WHY don't you post what you have to say in ONE posting instead of spamming like some kind of troll?
Just asking, 5 or 6 in a row is WAY too many and why you are on my "IGNORE LIST".

Is there someone I can send an invoice to so I can get back the time the media wasted with this deflation thing? Thanks in advance.

Just kidding of course.

My old man would have said, "Um... find something to do". :)
