Single-Sixer
I just picked up a GP-100 last week, with a production date from last month. In the past I have been very critical about the fit/finish on these revolvers even though I like them better than other revolvers available today. This particular GP was done correctly - finally!
-The barrel is screwed on straight. First one out of 5!
-The b/c gap is correct
-The headspace is correct
-End play and timing are good
-How can this be???
The factory has begun to finish the small parts by (what looks like) shot peening or shot tumbling in a slurry mixture. Every small part has a smooth satin finish without the usual sharp burrs and knife edges. The parts fit together without excess slop. The only parts requiring some work were some sharp burrs on the engagement surfaces. This GP might not even require shimming or hours of painstaking work before it operates acceptably. Gasp!
The only thing that is slightly different is the trigger itself which feels a bit thinner and smaller than previous editions. Pleasant surprise: what took them so long?
