Years ago (late 1970's) I made up some hammer plungers for the NM single actions that were a bit longer then OEM. The purpose was to delay the latch drop, or release so it fell into the approach instead of out on the cylinder. The stock parts allowed the latch to come up early quite a ways before the approach. Ruger may have addressed this, I dont know. Haven't handled many New Models lately.
