Anyone ever have this happen before?
This is a 1st for me and I've been reloading/loading for over 40 years...
I've shot over 1,000 rds from this rifle w/o a hitch....

Not in IL anymore ... :)
Cat,

I've had cases split but never leave a hole like that. If this is from your rifle I'd suggest taking a really good look at that chamber neck.
That don't look good at all.

I don't know how many times this particular case has been shot.

Hi,

Pure speculation, as I've never seen that happen in person, either:

If the case had been loaded "that many" times (whatever the number might be?), you 'spose the neck was thinned too far, didn't "shrink back" as well as it should after firing and that hole was created by part of the neck sticking in the chamber on extraction?

Looks like burn through. I had something similar with some once loaded 243 some time ago. Just a weak spot in the brass I'd say. Check the other brass for thin necks.
