Yeah, I think the part that would scare me the most would be the tapping. Snapping taps off in sensitive projects seems to be my specialty.

Here is that long sight. Looks like a blunderbuss with it :?

Here is the short ramp with the white dot sight. I would probably end up ditching the white dot for a regular blade if I used this sight

And here is the Handi Rifle sight. I am leaning towards this one or the previous one.

The sight attached with a tiny 3x48 screw. I drilled out the hole in the sight and turned the head down on a 6x48 allen head screw.

This would make a pretty slick Single Six sight as well IMHO.

I bet it will turn out great. I like the square trigger guard, myself. It appears Ruger has done away with it.

Finally finished-ish

Before:

I still have to remove the billboard and blue the end of the barrel, but at least it is shootable now :)

I wish I had used a new ERH instead of this parts box one that needs refinishing.

Well it looks like a great shooter now. When you remove the billboard you are going to open another can of worms. The cold blue isn't going to look right and blend in with the other. You might concider stopping there for a while and see how the billboard bothers you instead of removing it now just cold blue the crown and see how it shoots and how you like it. then later if you want take it off and have it refinished. Get the sights right and see what you think.

You carry one of these little guys when you don't plan on shooting much. IF you're gonna shoot the big gun with REAL 44 loads, the little guy is back up. I have my 3.5 inch 44 VAQUERO on a steady diet of MIHEC hollow base FULL wadcutters over a wimp load of TITEGROUP or HP38.

Amateur historicans can recall AVENGING ANGELS and some big bore single action BELLY GUNS.

They're all fun...even if they rattle your filings!

I am going to shoot it a bit this weekend then take it back down and remove the billboard.

When I learn to measure from the face of the cylinder rather than the end of the frame! :oops:

It's an easy fix though, all I have to do is start over....

Yes a very nice job. Just imagine what he could with the proper equipment. This was done with bare bones stuff and all done by hand. He has always been very talented working with his hands and can do anything he sets his mind to and make it look professional. His son my grandson is probably going to be just like him. He helps his dad all the time in most everything he does from casting bullets to working on cars so he will know about everything his dad does. It makes me so proud to watch them together and see the patients my son has to let his son help with the things he does. He's a great father.

The wife &I went and spent the day with my son and grandson. We went to their deer camp and rode 4 wheelers and worked on a couple of stands then when they finished that we fished for a while and ended up with a good mess of fish. That we cleaned and they cooked for supper It was a great day all around. And yes I shot the pistol he just cut down. The gun looks great and the first shot it was shooting about 5" low at about 25 yds. For me. I told him to adjust the rear sight to about mid adjustment then start filing the front and get it set with the front sight and don't move the rear that way he will have plenty of adjustment for different loads. I think we ended up with 19 bass. The little grandson fished hard and we had a great day
