FINALLY - Plenty of .22

I run 40gr roundnose MiniMags in my match gun, Marvel 1911 conversion kit, and in my training guns. So, I shoot a lot of it.

By getting to Academy and Gander for months two hours before the doors open and by swapping and trading other bulk .22 ammo, I'm finally stocked up to where I was two years ago when CCI MiniMags were plentiful.

And it feels good. I shot 100rnds today at the range.

I managed to pick up a few bricks and a few 100 packs a couple months ago. Thought I was set. My daughter is now going through this stuff like water. I've been checking the usual suspects with no success.

On a brighter note, she is starting to warm to my .38 revolver. I reload for it, and have no trouble getting components, other than powder. Having said that, I do have enough powder for a good many rounds. Problem is, she still wants to go through a couple hundred .22s after shooting a couple boxes of .38.

We are having fun at the range though.

For months I've gotten up at 6am and waited in line for hours to be able to buy whatever was available in bulk .22.

Then I've networked and horse traded it for the CCI others had.

Good grief Charlie Brown. My son has a 22 and we still have 150 rounds of mini-mags from about 2 years ago. Never got up early, never went to a store, never bartered other ammo, just didn't shoot the gun for 2 years. Now that 22 ammo is available again I will probably order some more, maybe 200 rounds. Frenzied buyers make for scarce ammo.

I'm not saying you did anything wrong just a different story from me. :shock:

CCI Mini Mag is dern-good ammo. Sorry about all the work you had to go through to get it, but I'm glad for you that you've got enough to last you a while.

Local hardware has quite a bit of MiniMag at $37/100. I am glad I started buying before Obama was elected the first time. Have not bought any 22LR in over 2 years.

Finally, um, no. Not yet. Not plenty. Little choice. The manufactures have not "ramped up" added capacity,not running 24/7, or anything else bandied about on the net. The rimfire market has taken a backseat, priority-wise. The profit margin was not making the manufactures happy, so it's in their best interest to let the demand climb past the availibilty. Just reality, understand it or not.

About a year ago, I happened to be in the local Sportsman's Warehouse just as a case of Mini Mags was opened. Paid $7.95 per box of 100 rds...

About $2 higher than "pre obunghole" but then I doubt rimfire will EVER get back to "normal"...

I can live with $7.95 but can't envision anybody willing to pay $37 !!! :roll:


PS: Dittos on the Wolf MT....My heavy barrelled 10/22 dotes on it too! 8)

People that have it charge high prices except the chain stores like walmart.

Dont even think you are gonna find preObama prices at any of the pawn shops here. And those rats have people at walmart waiting to buy it for $20/ brick so they can charge $65-75 per brick. Pizzes me off!!

Luckily i have plenty. Just over 2k rounds. Got a case ordered thru a friend that suppsedly has the "hook up" at the Olin plant here. We will see. Mine is anything from remington golden bullets to fairly decent match ammo (SK Standard and couple others).

But im not missing it. I shoot about 20-50 rounds per year IF i shoot. It is much easier for me to load and shoot 38 special.

When you go shooting .22 rimfires, take a revolver or a bolt gun. For Pete's sake, leave the Mark III, 10/22 and even the McFadden Clip Loader at home!

Plenty of .22lr at LGS, but still expensive: $13/100 for Win SuperX 37gr HP. Bought one box just to try it out. There was a guy from MO, buying up .22 to take home with him the other day when I was there eyeballling that Win 94 lever gun. Long trip for .22 ammo. Probably spent almost as much on gas as he did on ammo. :roll:
