There was a shooting in a church in my town yesterday. One dead, one wounded. It appeared to be nothing more than one guy mad at another guy, but it points up that if you carry, you should carry everywhere.

Yes. In fact a fair number of us do.
I would think with all of the jihadists and the anti-religious nuts running around it would be high on the list of places to carry. It is on mine anyway.

At the church I attend there are a multitude of uniformed police , a fair amount of plain clothes officer and several bodyguards. The Pastor said that while it wasn't illegal to carry, it IS illegal to carry if he said not to. Private property or some such. So no, I don't take my pistol into the church.

Not possible. Had a liberal tell me once that there was no use in carrying in a church. No one would ever shoot anyone in a church. Need to show her this post.

A friend of mine and his church group has gone a bit further than just carrying. To start with they have a dedicated group who carries. They have security cameras on the outside feeding into several small laptops that are watched during the service. They have spoken to the County Sheriff about this and found out that on Sunday morning there is only one deputy on patrol. So if something happens they already know they are on their own for a bit if he is at the other end of the county when the call comes in. If the situation is contained(bad guy down) they have a signal arranged to let responding Law Enforcement know when they arrive.
I am sure there are a few things of their plan he hasn't mentioned.

Yes I do. We've also established a safety/security team to monitor the doors and sanctuary before, during and after service. A manual outlining the expectations and responsibilities (along with the Bible) has been the guiding rules for their activity. Most do not carry by their own choice but I and others do. In MI, the "Designated Official" must allow concealed carry. At a Council meeting, we designated that our Pastor is our DO. He keeps his decisions private between himself and the person carrying.

I walked into a Sunday service with a cocked and locked .45 once. Some people took it wrong, but they were the types, that always take things wrong; and who cares what they thought.
The pastor could not believe his eyes, so I told him, "I am having trouble with some punks." It did not help to ameliorate things with him, and so, I finally dropped that church from my list.
Was I at fault, yes; but I can't stand thugs or cowards; and I don't mind being shockingly brazen. It was either pack the piece, or hide in the house.

We go to a very small church. The pastor is into guns and a couple other guys I know there are. Don`t know about the others but likely most are. Frankly I have only packed inside church a few times and that accidentally as I usually take my snub out of my pocket and hide it in my truck. I missed it but a few months ago my wife said a very strange woman came in dressed weird and asked someone near her if the church allowed witch's to come and said she was a witch! I guess she got a negative answer as she left. There are nuts everywhere so I guess I shouldn't be so complacent. I should be more aware or serious as I spent my life working security and even my wife is far more security conscious than me! Just never was wired to be nervous or scared of anybody. Guess I just have been lucky as I have been in "events".
