Cold beer?

When I worked the afternoon shift I would come home from work and take a can of Coors Banquet from the refrigerator set at 35° and put it in the freezer while I took a shower. I would make a sandwich and turn on the last part of Perry Mason before The Twilight Zone came on. By that time the beer was the perfect temperature and I was ready to enjoy it with my cat Walter.

The only time I can drink the stuff ( not a fan of drinking something that looks the same going in as coming out) is if it's a zillion degrees and I am working in the yard. Then ice cold 7 oz Miller or Rolling Rock. Otherwise, Stoli & coke.

Joe you have figured out the mystery of beer. You whiz so quickly because it doesn't have to stop to change colors!

I have an acquaintance that is a multi time champion home brewer. He says that 54 degrees is the optimal temp for bringing out the most flavor from beer. I have noticed that a very flavorful dark beer doesn't go well with being very cold, but otherwise with the cheap everyday lite stuff I usually have is best about as cold as I can get it.
On a hot summer day & just getting off work, a beer so cold you think is going to crack a tooth is about right.

Never have been much of a beer drinker, but did always prefer them ice cold, and couldn't drink a warm beer at all. About the only beer I enjoy now is Guinness Stout, and even that I prefer cold, contrary to the way it seems to have been intended.

I figure I'm at the stage in my life that I will have things the way I like them rather than the way that is popular or considered proper.

I also put ice in my single-malt scotch, so now let's hear from the purists.

Was never a fan if beer until I discovered dark beer. Not reds but chocolate brown. Still only one with a good meal, but always cold.
I had a Founders Breakfast Stout the other day. First sip was harsh IMO. After that I guess my taste were ready for it & it was pretty good. A slow sipper for sure, at nearly 9%.
On the lighter end of darks I keep Modelo Negra around or may have XX Ambar or Michelob Amber Bock.

What do you prefer Dan? I live in a small town so my selections are limited. I got the Founders in the city last week.

To each own. Depends on your palette. My quack said no more alcohol. Several beers have come out sans an alcoholic content. I tried a few, but did not like them until a non-alcoholic Micheloeb Ultra called ZERO came out this year. Surprisingly it tastes just like a regular Ultra but no buzz as many seem to prefer over the actual taste of a beer. Several non-alcoholic beers have a 0.5 % alcohol content. However, the ZERO is 0.0 % which I prefer.
To each his own...

Years ago when I was working construction we had finished the days work and were going to a evening side job, I was riding with my bosses father and he asked me if I wanted a beer… should have known better as he was a retired preacher, so after I said sure he said they were in the bag in the floorboard (it was August, 95 deg, no AC) the beer was Falstaff with about a year’s worth of dust on them… I should have said no thanks but I couldn’t back out then, absolutely the nastiest beer I’ve ever tasted. I heard later he had done the same thing to other guys on the crew, pretty sure it was his way of trying to get us to stop drinking, didn’t work on me but I did learn to confirm what was being offered before saying yes ever again.

Charlie has become a beer delivery cat! My wife was doing the recycling and he stuck himself in the cardboard Coors Banquet 6 pack carrier.

It’s funny you mentioned Amber Bock, that’s what got me started. My favorite is Left Hand Brewing Nitro Milk Stout.

I don't drink beer for masculinity points and I've found most of the oddball stuff really isn't all that great tasting or refreshing, especially warm.

now that we have two full size kitchens with full size refrigerators, I can share space in my beer fridge for Mrs. Bee and her girl friends. 🍻

I keep my beer and her foo foo drinks just a hair above freezing where they're most refreshing, especially after chores on warm days. 🍺
