Beer prices?

Back in the 80's in a big house with 5 roommates and a pool table nobody could keep a beer in the fridge without someone else helping themselves. Solution---I bought an old "Cold Drinks" vending machine. I would buy cases of Bud, Bud Light, 7up and Coke (always a need for mixers), plus whatever odd ball beer I could find in cans and cheap. The machine had 5 lanes/choices so one was always known as the "mystery Lane". I would stock that with Olympia, Rainier, Moose Head (when I could find cans), Labatt's, Schlitz and others. Price was set at 50 cents. I was paying $10.99 for a 24ct case of the Budweiser's, and either less or slightly more for the soda and mystery lane. Everyone was happy since I always kept it stocked, and it saved room in the fridge. I lived in this rental for almost 10 years and had 10-15 different room mates over those years.

Never was a big beer-drinker, but the last couple of years I've developed a taste for Guinness Stout. Four-Pack of 16-ounce cans for around $9, but that will last me for at least a month. I'll also plop down up to about $60 for a good bottle of Scotch, mostly from a duty-free store at an airport, but that's been known to last me a full year.

While not a serious drinker, I tend to take my drinking seriously.

I've been buying beer for around 60 years. Early on it was mostly the cheap stuff. Finally the one I settled on for many years is Coors Light, I like the 16 oz wide mouth screw cap cans, I Think I'm currently paying around $13.50 for a 9 pak. Here lately I've been buying 12 12 oz cans of Sam Adams Light or Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy for around $19. I always say the absolute worst beer I ever sampled was back when Jimmy Carter was in office and they brought out "Billy Beer" because brother Billy was supposed to be a big time beer consumer. I bought a couple of six packs of it and it was horrible. I always said it tasted like you had cut a green willow twig and chewed on it. I delighted in offering a friend one just to see the look on their face when they tasted. I don't think I had one single friend that finished drinking a can of it. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
