I don’t drink beer, there is something in it that I’m allergic too. Every time I drink it I break out in hives. Not pleasant.

Wine is much better. Or whiskey. But I don’t drink much of that.

Anyway, I’m at the grocery store and this is the ad posted.

What the heck!!!! Is this a normal price for beer? My God! In college I could by a 12 pack with change in my car. It was $3.12 for Natural Light.

What are beer prices where you live?

This just doesn’t seem fair! And is imported beef going for more?

Who can afford to drink AND smoke these days???

I have no idea how much a pack of Camels are going for these days. I don’t smoke.

Yesterday at Kroger I saw a 6 pack of 8oz bottles of Coke advertised at $9.99 per 6 pack. Beer is now cheaper than coke.
 
Add says that price is for a 24 pack which comes out to less than $1 per beer which isn’t bad for domestic. Around here domestic runs about that price and import is closer to $18 for 12 packs.
 
Yeah, and pack Marlboro Lights is over $10 in Ark. Thats a pretty good reason not to smoke!!
 
If you think that is high, check out the imports. $18 an dup for a 12 pack 🤪
 
I only buy beers by the can. I can sneak them onto the course on Sundays when the manager isn't there. They charge $5 per 16 oz can which is insane. No idea what a case of Coors light is but I am guessing $24. Camels are $9 a pack give or take $1.50. Don't ask me how I know.

Wow! never seen 36 packs of Bud that cheap or Modelo the same price a as Bud. Actually never seen a 36 pack of Modelo as well. Guess it helps to live closer the Modelo's source, Maybe Tx hidden alcohol tax is much lower than Ky.
 
I get a 30 pack of PBR for around $23. It is like getting a free 6 pack when you buy them. I was at Walmart looking at 12 packs and it was ridiculous what they wanted for a 12 pack vs 30 pack.
 
But then you must drink PBR.

On the same cheap note but on the other end of the taste spectrum I think I used to buy 30 packs of Keystone light (dregs of Coors) for $18 because none of my hot rod friends had a job good enough except the one guy that sold stuff you shouldn't.

Stater Brothers isnt in TX, store 149 is just off I5 in San Clemente CA.
The field it was built on is shown in the motorcycle movie On Any Sunday

I shopped that store a lot the last 7 years. They use to sell the same 36 packs at that price buy 2 get 1 free.
 
Too many years ago my friend and I used to buy an 8 pack of Genesee 12 Horse Ale for $2.
Throw in a large ham submarine for $3 & a big bag of Lay's potato chips for $1 & we were set for the afternoon. For $6 we were living large and on top of the world!
Of course we were making about $3 an hour so it was money well spent.

Bud/Bl is $26.5 here for 30 & $29 for 24 Modello's. Buy 2 & get a 3rd free? uncanny. Sounds like 1990's prices.

I remember drinking Genesee Cream Ale in the 7 oz bottles. Wish I could still get them. I do still occasionally get an 8 pack of Little Kings. I also remember going to a local bar and getting pitchers of the Cream Ale and ten cent wings on wing night. Those days are gone and so is the bar.:(

Schoenling Little Kings Cream Ale and a shot of Kessler's! Those were the days!
This thread made me order a cheese, pepperoni, mushroom and anchovy pizza and an order of fingers. I'm not drinking a beer with it and I couldn't believe the price because it's been years since I got a pie from this place.
It was $35 for a small pizza and 6 fingers. I gave the counterman $40 and told him to keep the change. My pie is loaded and the fingers are decent.View attachment 81521

Not long ago you could get a 2 liter bottle of soda, name brand, for 99 cents. Now it is $2.99 on sale. It's quite obvious the production cost of soda hasn't tripled in a year or so. In fact I'd pretty much bet the production cost of most foods hasn't really tripled but the retail prices sure have.

You want to control a populace you only need to do two things. Disarm them and control the food supply.

I was there anyways to pick up a prescription for mom so it sounded like a fair price to me

I prefer bottles but cans are easier to dispose on the farm

If my memory is working, a case of Stroh's in cans was about $4 when I was a freshman in college. I could get a small two topping pizza for three buck and change.
 
I quit drinking in 2014 after being a daily beer drinker from age 16. I looked 18 at 16 to most clerks so I skated. They didn't raise the legal age to 21 in FL unitl I was 21, so no issues. The rising prices for all types of alcohol helped me to finally decide to give it up. The thousands of dollars I've saved since 2014 has allowed me to spend that money on better things, namely more guns & ammo. I don't how folks these days can tolerate the current high prices of it for something they're only renting anyway. Same thing with smoking. I quit in 2009 when cartons of Marlboro Lights hit $40-45. I saw the price of $110 for a carton a few months ago at Fry's. Incredible! SO glad I quit.

Back in my 1960s USAF Days a 12 oz. bottle of beer at the bars was .25cents and a draft was .10 cents. You could buy a gallon of draft to take home for .90 cents.
Yes, beer has gone up a bunch in the last few years.

I started drinking Shiner Bock and it is about a $34.00 case on sale :(

was there with the missus anyway so picked one up for the house 🍻
