I want replace springs in a couple Blackhawks and a Single Six. I'm assuming Blackhawks and Super Blackhawks take the same kit, but are Single Sixes different? What spring weights would you recommend without sacrificing reliablity? I see a couple different weight options on line, and I see Wolff, Power Custom, and Wilson Combat all have offerings.

Thanks in advance

Personally, I don't change the mainspring just the trigger return spring. I typically use the 40 oz. return spring.

I know a lot of people who want to lighten an action by changing springs & such. And many feel that springs get too soft etc. But I can say I've never had a Ruger SA where the springs NEEDED changing. I have a few from the early 1950's that are still working perfectly, with the original springs.

BUT,, that wasn't the OP's question.

Many shooters in USPSA competition use Wolff or Wilson.

I'm taking a single action tuning class, and an 'upgrade' spring kit is an item in the materials list. I don't know what the factory spring rates are, and I don't want to go too light, maybe I'll try the heavier weight Wolff kit in one and stock springs in another for comparison's sake.

The Wolff spring kit helped quite a bit in my SP101, realizing that is a different animal, and I re used the stock hammer spring in that gun and am happy with it.

In my competition Vaqueros, I run 17# and have had no problems setting off every primer. 15# have giving unreliable ignition for some with harder primers. In Single-Sixes, I like slightly heavier for the same reasons.
