Blackhawk ejector housing screw comes loose

I have been having an issue with the ejector housing screw coming loose when I shoot my .357/9mm Blackkawk. I tried snugging it up tight with a screwdriver, and it still came loose within 50 rounds. Next, I decreased the screw and the hole it goes in and applied blue Loctite. That lasted about 150 rounds and now it's loose again.

Any suggestions?

Thoroughly clean screw and hole, removing any oils and old Loctite. Use red Loctite instead of the blue. Allow to set for a day.

Blue loctite. 242. Will break loose with hand tools. Red loctite is permanent. Dont use 609. Unless you like clamping barrels in vise. Then putting heat on it. Man, I'd never use red loctite that might have to come apart

Spray brake cleaner in threaded hole,, blow out with compressed air if you can. Then apply 242 to threads. That should hold it. Unless threads are stripped

Red works but needs heat to remove. Blue should hold fine assuming the threads are not damaged. In either case the parts must be free of any oil. Brake cleaner works great.

Never use the red Loctite.
If you had the blue come loose, it's likely you didn't have the area totally clean of oils & such. But if you want to add a bit more tension, when you add the blue,,, add a piece of nylon fishing line to the hole & then screw it in. The nylon acts like the Nyloc that Ruger uses.

Excellent advice Contender. A person could use Teflon tape too. Loctite makes a Red bearing sealer also. I've put bearing races in before with it 609 will be hard to remove. Wait until a person ruins the slot on screw head!! Wouldn't that be fun?

I use red Loctite 262 for jobs like this because it is permanent. I seldom have need to remove an ejector housing. If you plan on removing it or the permanence worries you, use the blue 242.

I have never used Loctite 609. It appears to be a low strength product.

Yep blue 242 and it should work fine just clean clean clean it and if it comes lose again you didn't clean it good enough. You are using a tamper proof screw driver for the left side right! George

To be on the safe side if it were me I wouldn't use the 262 Red. Chances are especially a small part you'll never get it back apart if you ever need to. That Red is some powerful stuff. I used the different Loctite's for years when I was building firetrucks. I remember years ago and it might still say it on the 242 Blue Loctite bottle that it's permanent on 1/4" fasteners or smaller.

As already said clean the hole, the threads making sure all the grease and grim are removed,make sure it's dry then apply 242 Blue Loctite. I never heard of the fishing line trick Contender mentioned but it does make sense. The Blue Loctite if done properly should be all you need.

degrease and use the blue.

I have a Hawes Western Marshall whose grip frame was loose as all git out when I bought it. Cleaned it, blue Loctite, never had another issue.
