45 colt load?

Want to try some cast perf 265gr LBT using univeral powder. Looking to get a hunting load but not looking for a big +p load something around 900 fps. Gun is new model Blackhawk 4 5/8" and can handle the +p just dont think a really hot load is needed for hard cast. Any suggestions? I think around 9 gr would get me in ballpark but cant find any data for this type of middle ground load.

You should be in the ballpark. Using 9.0g Universal under 255g SWC I got 1049fps out of 5 1/2" barrel BH.

I suggest you look at the Hodgdon Powder site. They list numerous loads for a 260 gr lead bullet with various powders. www.hodgdon.com You should be able to find what you need there.
