32 H&R Single Six shoots too high

Hello, I recently purchased one of the stainless Single Sixes in 32 H&R magnum from Davidsons. I sighted it in with 100 grain loads and it shoots about 4"-6"'s high at 25 yards with the rear sight adjusted as low as it will go. I contacted Ruger and they wanted me to send it back which is about a 100 mile round trip to Fedex for me. My question is does anyone have a Single Seven in 327 who would measure their front sight and tell me how tall it is from the top of the barrel to the top of the blade? My sight is .425" so if the .327's is taller I will buy a set of sights and install them on my 32 and save myself a trip.

Mike, My .327 has the 4 5/8" barrel and as near as I can tell the sight is approximately .480". Hope this helps you.

Mike, that looks promising. But your gun has a 5 1/2" barrel. Shorter barrels use higher front sights. You may need to know the height of the 327 5 1/2" barrel sight.

I am guessing your who asked me on the Smith Forum. Sorry I did not get to it til now.

Mine is a 5.5 and measures .485 as best you can measure still on the pistol.

Mike,

Looks like the 4 5/8" and 5 1/2" sights are the same. You might have a sight meant for the 7" barreled 327.

You might call the Ruger's part dept. If you get a good parts clerk, they will take the time to look up the proper sight height for your and they often send small parts like that free when a customer has a complaint.

I called Ruger and they told me the part number for this sight is SM13602 for those of you who are interested they also told me the rear sight blades are the same for all of the Single Six's.

I have fired this revolver about 300 times now and I really like it. I bought it as a replacement for my .22 revolver because of the price of ammo these days.
