But I carry CHEAP good knives.
My most used cutting tool is a cheap 'flipper' utility knife--it's always right there clipped to my right hand pocket. In my line of work, knives get lost, abused, and misused. I buy these knives which are easily deployed/folded with one hand on sale @ Menards for $3-4 each in a 3 pack.
On my previous trip to 'nards, I was trolling the sale add offerings and found another exceptional value. A 2 pack (one a 2.5" and the other about 3.25" blade) of folding 'assisted opening' knives. The 'final price after sale and rebate'--- $2.99. I bought one package just to see if they were worth even $3 and by golly YES. The blades are even sharp right out of the package. Not sharp enough for my taste but not the 'don't hurt yourself' blunted edge. Sent message to Son to pick up 2-3 more packages (Christmas handouts) if he's back in town.
