I'll admit it...I paid the retail price of $799 at Gander Mountain also. BUT...that was after I unloaded a Saiga unconverted AK47 for more than double what I had into it so was it really that inflated for a 1911 of this quality that i've been drooling over for far too long?? Nope! I also got a $40 rebate card coming so really it was $759 ;) I'm a happy camper. I believe these will be good investments no matter what we paid for them.

$679.00

Called the LGS (Big Box Store the one with the big Ferries Wheel) at 9:30 AM 1/14/2013 asked if they had the Ruger 1911 and they said yes and would you like us to put a 24 hour hold on it which they did. I was there 3 hours later and there she was. Talked to a few sale people there and that was the only one they got in and they got it in 30 minutes before I called.

Man there was a lot and I mean a lot of people there buying guns.

$699. Though I suspect I got a bit of a discount. That was the price the owner of my LGS quoted me before he actually got it in. When I went to pay for it I noticed I had gotten a $50 discount off the price. There's a reason I try to buy most of my guns at his place.

$699 before tax for a Commander a few weeks ago. One of my LGSs got a pallet of 200 (!!!) in; they didn't last long.

$749. Would like to have paid less, but they are still hard to find 2 years after their inception and the friggin' liberals had me worrried I'd never get one if I waited any longer.

LGS was asking $715 for the one they got in...I reminded the guy that he said he'd call me when he got one in and he didn't call when he got this one in, he posted it on Facebook that he had one in....Guilt got the best of him and we agreed on $680 but the whole time he reminded me how scarce they are and how he could get alot more than just the $715 he was asking for it.

$45.74

OK, maybe that doesn't really count - I WON it at the January Ruger show in Boise, Id. :D

Cost was shipping to my FFL.
Thank you, Hank Green!

The person that said "not anymore" to them being scarce is not from central Ohio obviously. I called 11 different dealers yesterday, including a couple of big box with Gander Mt and Cabelas, and NONE of them had one...new or used. A few told me if I would come in a make a down payment they thought I could have one in 4-5 weeks.

I was about to do that when I made one last call to my actual LGS that I know has not had one in a few weeks. When I finally got through to firearms
(they are usually so busy they don't answer the phone) I asked "I know you don't have one, but do you have any idea when you might get a Ruger 1911 in?" I was SHOCKED to hear him say "We got one in about an hour ago." When I told him this would be the third gun I would have bought from him in the last 4 months he told me I could have it IF I could come in before they closed.

I didn't even ask him how much as I knew it would be, like everyone else I talked to, about $800. I got there in less than 20 minutes. They had a price tag of $749 on it. I told him to box it up. After doing the background check
paper work he came back and said the manager was going to let me have it for $729. I guess they appreciate customer loyalty.

To top it off they had received a nice shipment of .45ACP so I got my 3 boxes
(up from the 2 box limit of the past few weeks) and left a very happy man.

It's interesting for me to see how the responses to this thread have certainly gone up over the 16 months since it started. I know that Ruger has also raised the MSRP $30 in the past few months.

I was very pleased to get the gun at $100 below that figure.
