Stationary engineers run the boilers, power plants, and AC units for heating, cooling, and power. It's one of the few civilian jobs that us Navy pit snipes can easily transition to from active duty.
BT or MM?
When the navy got rid of the BT's a major source for new stationary engineers dried up. Now a lot of the new guys are coming out of trade schools or technical colleges. It shows. During an incident at a hospital a newly licensed engineer (although we later suspected someone else took the test for him) didn't know which way to turn a valve to close it. Darned near puked the boiler.
MM on USS JFK CV67. Boiler and machinery rooms in the same space, so we flopped back and forth with our buddies, doing both jobs. Kinda made things easier, IMHO.
No more aspirin, or Motrin for you, at least until you heal.

That is some fine news. Going home and being where you can relax more is always a good thing. It does sound like you were doing quite well there and glad doing better. The cutting up you shared with them sounds like a great attitude and well received all around.
