Single-Sixer
This weekend makes me think about how things were and how things are. Today while working outside I got a saw blade a little too close to a the compressor on my air-conditioning unit. The blade hit a coil and all the gas discharged. The unit was 31 years old and had done its duty so I headed out and bought a new 2.5 ton unit. On the way home the wife wanted to stop at Randy's Rib joint. To get those ribs you stand in line outside in the Savannah sun until you make it to the window to place your order. Randy's is in a neighborhood that has a lot of crime. I was only one of two white people in line and it was very interesting to listen to the older black guys in line with me. It seems that the older blacks have noticed how the younger generation has no respect for anyone. It was also commented that the younger generation expects everything should be given to them. One fella said "respect starts at home. But most of them don't have any parents to teach them".
The 4th also allows me to think about how our revolution was fought with the guns we had in our homes. We faced an army with tools we used to hunt with and protect our own with. We won our freedom. Now it seems our own government is our enemy. The government is taxing every aspect of our life and trying it's best to take away our arms. It no more wants an armed populace then did Britain. It is my belief that every able bodied man should own a weapon and ammo and be trained to proficiency so that our government understands that we the people will protect our family, our rights and our freedoms. From ANY enemy foreign or domestic.
