Waiting for the blizzard?

All I hear is a bunch of whining about having to deal with snow.

I also hear almost continual whining about how bad things are in California.

Have you all considered, if you moved to California you could avoid the snow, and if enough moved the political situation would also improve.

But no, just constant whining.
First off I see no one whining except you. We are TALKING about the storm and snow. And, to talk about going to California to escape the snow...tell it to the Donner party. They were a little northeast of Sacramento.

Haven't gotten dressed yet, but it looks like maybe 2 ft and still coming down. The town hasn't even made a first pass on our street yet; but most of the employees are the 'grown' children of the two families that run the town, so there's NO RUSH :-). I'll go out later and take care of things. Having lived in MN., this is child's play for me and my 1976 show-blower.

I had a Bolens snowblower similar to that Toro with an 8 horse engine and chains and a cab on it. That thing would go through almost anything. Damn mice ate the drive disc and I couldn't get the parts to fix it.

Got 12”+. Ariens took care of it. Knocked out driveway, about 300 feet of my sidewalk, as well as 3 neighbors’ sidewalks as well.

They went to California "for" the snow. They were told in advance it was too late in the season to leave.

I wish that I was getting hit with two feet of snow. :-(
You would have been welcome to my 2 PLUS feet. Just finished shoveling. Full day's work as I have a LOT to shovel and my little blower is only good for about 4 inches I guess. I shoveled 6" last night and that was over it's limit. Of course, when I came back in the house the power was out again, but this time only about 45 minutes. Last night it was out for a few hours. No problems- I am fairly well prepped for it. Time for a little Angel's Envy....

Spoke with our neighbor on Cape Cod. They said they had about 18" and it was still snowing and blowing like crazy. They lost power this morning about 08:30. As he said: "The winter that keeps giving."

Actually they went west in 1846 seeking a better life, lured by promises of free, fertile land, a mild climate, and economic opportunity in California.. Influenced by Manifest Destiny and reports of prosperity, they left Illinois hoping to start over, but a disastrous decision to take a supposed shortcut led to fatal delays.

They had the extension cord starter option in '76 ? that was ahead of its time
You made me go and check my receipt..... It wasn't 1976; it was Nov. 1979.
The price was $524,90.
Surprisingly, to this day I seldom use that electric start; it lights up on only one pull.

Not a big event this time for us, but I’ll toss in an entry for workhorse vintage snow blowers: an 8hp 1974. This thing is a beast attacking snow.IMG_0857.jpeg

Not one snowflake here in northern Illinois. For those in the Northeast who received a ton of snow, just think about how rarely this seems to happen. Give it a few days and things will be back to normal. Good luck.

Got 20" and the 30+yr old Ariens got our 200ft driveway cleaned up again. I nursed it because drive belts are slipping and it needs to be serviced, for the first time. I'm not very diligent when it comes to regular service intervals. We got a quick 3"-4" from a "clipper" this morning so hoping the old girl is up to it. This old machine owes me nothing at this point. BTW, not whining.
