I have a Ruger Blackhawk with an aftermarket base axis (cylinder axis) pin which I cannot remove. The pin has an hourglass shaped head. While other Ruger single action revolvers have a tiny bit of longitudinal play in the axis pin without depressing the transverse latch, this pin feels as if it is welded in place, even when the latch is depressed. The latch does not seem to depress as far as a Ruger with a factor base axis pin. I have not removed the latch because I do not have the proper tool for the screw whose slot is bisected by a pin.
Before I take the weapon to the gunsmith, I thought I would make this post on the odd chance this is some common malady with a standard fix. Thanks in advance--but I suspect this is a gunsmith issue.
