Stainless Steel Blackhawk Convertible 45LC/ACP expensive?

I'm looking to buy my first revolver, and I'd like it to be a stainless steel Blackhawk convertible in 45 long colt with the .45 ACP cylinder. Problem is, every place I look at online either doesn't have them, or if they do they are upwards of $700 while the other blackhawk convertibles (either in 357/9mm, or in my caliber but blued finish) are as low as $500. I know stainless steel finishes generally goes for more, but I'm just wondering why such a radical difference in price for essentially identical guns.

Supply and demand. The Stainless 45 convertibles were made in relatively very small quantities and command a corresponindly high price.

The Stainless .45 Blackhawk convertibles (adjustable sights) were an exclusive of Davidson's in the 1990's. They made them in 4-5/8", 5-1/2" and 7-1/2". There have been no more since that time.
There have however been two different runs of .45 Convertible's in the stainless Vaquero and New Vaquero. You might have an easier time finding one of those if fixed sights doesn't bother you.
Then Lipsey's also did some .45 Convertibles in the stainless flattop. Those will be more $ as well.

Those stainless Blackhawk convertibles are in demand,, and command an average of $650 for the most part.

Don't forget the convertible .45 Bisley Blackhawks. I think there are two runs of those in stainless as well, one for Accusport in the early 2000s and a later one for someone else (Williams?). I lucked into one locally for 600, saw some online used for around the same price OTD on my end.
