SR-22

Just picked up an sr22 today. Only put 100 rounds in it so far, but this thing is great. Had to sight it in, of course, it was set up for a right handed person. I have a few metal targets on the lower end of the property and was able to hit them pretty easy from 5 and 10 yards. Chickens started wandering where I was shooting, guess they want to be stew? :mrgreen:

Really. At least there are left hand rifles. No way I'd get a backwards bolt gun. :wink:

To anyone who's taken the mags apart: can the thumb tab be switched to the other side?

Eh, checked the mags. The tab fits going to the other side, but has some resistance sliding up and down. So they can't be switched over, bummer.

The only bad thing about an SR22 is loading the mags. I bought a magazine assist from brass stacker, http://brassstacker.com/ruger/, a little pricey but worth it. And it is not right or left handed.

If not for dogs, I'd get one. I can just see the feist jumping on the desk and chewing that. Whenever I go somewhere, I have to put my pillows on top of the amoire or she makes them explode.

Was looking on shopruger.com to see what holsters fit what, and saw the Gould and Goodrich ambidextrous holster. Anyone know if that would work on the sr22 if I decided to put a laser or light on it? Can't find one like it local, would have to order it.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet (hopefully Friday) but the one thing I've noticed so far is the magazine release seems "mushy". It seems like I really have to push it to release the magazine and it's not crisp, as opposed to my SR9 and 9c which have very crisp, easy releases. Is this normal?

I checked out a few youtube videos before going to look at the gun and noticed a lot of people were slamming their mags in place too. The mag release on mine is smooth, and the mags push and click in as easy as the lc9. A lot of the vids I saw were from the beginning of the year, so maybe ruger worked on that.

Has Ruger addressed the takedown lever issue and the slide being etched by the slide release?

When I use the small grip I get a crisp release. The large grip causes a "mushy" release. Until I read this I thought I just had a bad grip.

Mine seems mushy and I have the small grip on it. Not crisp. It's been like that since I got her earlier this year. I don't think the grip size matters; it doesn't interfere with the mag release much.

The manual states that the tab can be installed in either direction - and I have tried both without operational issue - if you are having an issue with one I would examine the slot in the mag and if it appears to be bent or crooked and still under warranty get a replacement.
