SR 22 HELP Please

I was at my local shooting range alternating between my sig mosquito and sr 22. I shot about 6 mags through it. When I went to drop the magazine it wouldn't come out. I've taken the slide off but I am at a loss to get the magazine out. I took the floor plate off and pulled the spring. Thinking to take any tension off of the spring. The only place I can see any contact is on the ejector. It seems to be making contact with top of the left side of the magazine. Does anyone know if this is normal? I will post photos asap. Anyone have any ideas? I am reluctant to just pound out the magazine. I will if I have no other choice but would prefer not to. Thanks for any and all help. george

Sounds like the mag release button is stuck. Try moving it back and forth while pushing up on the magazine.

Thanks for the idea. I took off the magazine floor plate. The mag follower dropped out of the way and I could see the mag release moving out of the way when i pushed the button. Also the mag release button moves freely in both directions. I will post photos today (i hope)

Here's just a thought, but don't hold me liable if I am wrong.... I'd engage the mag. release as far as possible and use what ever force needed to remove the magazine..... any damage done should be to the magazine not the rifle.

I'm betting there is a small piece of brass from a split cartridge jammed in there somewhere.....

I hope i uploads some photos. I tried to focus on the ejector. It seems to be making contact with the left side of the magazine. The only other place the magazine is touching, is at the back. If anyone else has a sr 22 can you tell me if this looks normal. thanks/

My suggestion is to do what I did...throw the little POS in the dumpster and get a Mark II if you want a 22 from Ruger. I sent mine back to the factory to get it back doing the same thing. Mag gets stuck, miss fire, not ejecting, miss feed, all with just 4, 10 round magazines.

garrambide...You might want to get up to speed on this photo bucket thingie. You just up loaded your entire photo history on what ever device you were working with to post on the forum regarding your SR 22. Your wife and child are beautiful people, take good care of them.

I bought my wife a SR22 for Xmas and haven't had any problems with it, and a couple other folks around here have them also, and no problems I'm aware of. That said, every item that comes off an assembly line is not going to be perfect, whether it's cars, guns, or cans of soup.

I agree. I have had a mk ii for the best part of 20 years with no problems or issues what so ever. Sadly it is not with me. I bought this from my local gun shop cause it came with 4 mags total.

Your pictures are a little hard to see .... And unfortunately if there is anything stopping the magazine from coming out in my mind it wouldn't be on the top where your photos are... but somewhere inside the frame.

My advice is call Ruger today. In fact do it right now! They have great customer service and if you get it in the mail to them today you could be at the firing range within a week or possibly less. Dont waste too much time trying to fix it yourself.

JPGLSG sorry you had issues with your SR. Realize your experience is the exception and not the typical experience owners of the SR22 are having. If I knew what dumpster you visited I might be inclined to dive in and give that pistol another try. LOL.

Have had mine for 1 1/2 years with over 6,000 rounds through it with no real problems at all. A few rounds that required a double strike but thats to be expectd with 22s. When we go out shooting everyone has a blast using it and the only issue I have is keeping ammo on hand.

Well maybe you are right, its in the trash bucket in the garage in pieces, I was wondering how best to dispose of it. I guess I can contact Ruger again and send it back for the second time and see what they might do. If I could play like the 401401 with the SR and you said you have sent 6K rounds down the line, I'd be happy. That is what I purchased the gun to do anyway.

:D Happy Days. Thanks for all the advice. I finally freed the magazine. I am on the road so sending to Ruger would've meant waiting to get back home in a few months. I sprayed the magwell with WD 40 and let it soak overnight. I would then try and push it out. I did this cycle for the past couple of weeks. I finally took a small hammer handle and applied pressure against the top of the magazine. It popped right out. Yea! I can't see where it was stuck. What ever had the magazine stuck must of popped out with the magazine. Again thanks for all the ideas.

Well, glad you got it out, and I hope Ruger does right by you. It's a fun little pea shooter when they're working right. :D
