Speed Six Barrel-Security Six Frame?

Gentlemen, I apologize in advance because I have a question I need to ask that will show my gunsmithing ignorance. Will a Speed Six barrel fit a Security Six frame without modification? I have a line on a complete Security Six frame w/no barrel from a local source and a 2 3/4 inch Speed Six barrel from out of state, so I can't get them together prior to buying them. I have a local gunsmith to do the barrel mounting so, if they'll fit, I won't futz it up. Any information would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry, I can't specifically answer your question. I just don't have much knowledge about the DA's.

from what we recall, its been a few years now, yes, the barrel will "fit" but you may run into a "match" of the frame sculpting and the shape of the outside of the barrel, but if 'stainless', piece of cake to make them "match" (blend the contours...)
have not had any call for work on this discontinued model in some time.......

kstoneking, The barrel will fit aok as the frame specs for the barrel are the same. The problem your going to have is in the "sights"! The Security-Six frame has "adjustable" sights and the Speed-Six barrel has a front sight for "fixed" sights. The sight on the Speed-Six barrel is going to have to be quite a bit "higher" to match up with the Security-Six "rear" sight. It's definitely not an insurmountable obstacle, but never-the-less, an obstacle!.......................Dick :wink:

Thank you for all of the great information gentlemen. I put off buying the wounded Security Six for too long while searching for a barrel and it was sold to someone else. I guess I'll have to search out another project. He who hesitates is lost.:-(
