Wayno's post about the many recent posts involving health issues among members here made me want to post a little something. Some good news along these lines.
It's been a month since I had emergency Pulmonary Embolism surgery to remove blood clots from my lungs. Sam posted that I was "gravely ill" and while it did have the potential to be VERY serious,, it was caught & dealt with.
Tuesday,, I had a follow-up ultrasound done where they had earlier found a few blood clots in my leg. Now,, to explain things a bit, while my surgery team was very good, the follow-up at the hospital was NOT!!!!!!!!! No doctor ever came & discussed my initial ultrasound, not my heart Echo-gram. And they were SUPPOSED to call & schedule a follow-up ultrasound within 2 weeks of my procedure. Well, the "wonderful" (sarcasm) staff screwed up. They put down my phone number as the same number for a local homeless shelter. If we had not gotten a copy of my medical records,, we'd not have known to expect this. Finally past the date of the expected ultrasound,, a phone call, (where we discovered the phone snafu,) expecting a call within 30 minutes, required another follow-up call by us two days later, to FINALLY schedule an ultrasound.
Now the good news.
I had the ultrasound Tuesday,, and the doctor there,, not only reviewed my original ultrasound, AND the one they just did,, upon my request,, she reviewed my records and gave me a follow-up on my Echo-gram. She was actually a bit embarrassed & apologetic for the inept way some of my stuff was handled. But she was very good at correcting things.
The 2 clots in my leg,, one is gone & the other one is smaller. The meds & such are working quite well. The Echo-gram that was taken just hours after my procedure,, did show some signs of stress,, but not enough to warrant an immediate re-test. She suggested I get another one in 3-4 months. She did a check-up on me in general,, and said; "Your vitals, your labs, & all look really good. You can go back to a normal active routine. "
I went back to serious work yesterday! My health news looks quite good!
So, THANKS to all who offered prayers, and well wishes. It worked!
