Good news in NJ?

While I have several calibers of firearms, My favorite has always been the many types of .22s. Here in NJ, Rifles and handguns have 10 round limits. HOWEVER, there is ONE exception, and I feel a buy coming on. The exception is rimfire .22 tube fed rifles, for some weird reason. I have had my eye on Henry lever action .22s. Some are real beauties but expensive. However, the Henry lever action Classic .22 short/long/ LR is under $500. The tube holds 15 LR, 17 long, and I believe 21 shorts. It's a quality rifle, and pretty damn accurate as well. My closest store is an hour and a half away, but will be making the trip soon!

Joe, I picked up my Henry 22 H001 at Tanners Sports Center in Jamison, PA a few years ago. Looks like it's currently $343.99. Took about 20 minutes from start to finish and walked out with it. Not sure where you're located, but it was a 45 minute ride for me.

Look for a used Marlin 39. Much nicer rifle and higher capacity 19 LR 26 Shorts

You won’t find one for $500 though.

If I were to but a Henry rimfire it would be a Small Game Rifle. Octagon barrel, large loop and skinner peep.

Is it tube fed? That's the key in NJ. I am considering a large loop.

Yes tube fed.

With its 24” barrel, I believe it is the longest tube highest capacity.22 rifle ever made. 19LR 26Shorts plus 1 in the chamber.

Ughh...almost every lever action is tube fed. Marlins especially........Henry, Rossi, Ithaca....take your pick new or used.

Yes....the 39 is tube fed....and way better than the Henry. Of now, I have only a Winchester, Henry and Rossi lever. Neither are as smooth as the 39.

Not 22 but I just picked up a Rossi M95 w/big loop and its smooth...getting smoother the more I play with it.

Here's my "SHTF-ready" Hi-Cap.... had it since 1958.... holds enough ammo to keep a 12 year old happy all day....

Almost forgot, I have a Marlin 39A too..... (1966 mfg IIRC).... absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

Yep. I have a Marlin . . . and a few older name-brand tube-fed bolt actions.

chiappa makes (basically) the marlin 39 now..... gunblast did a review on it... it has been improved just a bit (I guess), by having a modular one piece trigger group that is much less prone to dislodging upon breakdown of the rifle.. it has a fixed ejector to if I'm not mistaken..I had the marlin, "M" carbine.... sweet rifle...

I looked on line for Chiappa and found no pitcures of the lever guns they offer (plus very vague descriptions).

I finally found a description of the Chiappa .22 lever action rifle. Yes, it looks like a clone of the 39A but it has an alloy reciever, not forged steel like the Marlin. It appears to be a cheap copy not close to the real thing.

Ah the old Levermatic, The Ruger 96/22 used a 10/22 magazine.

I’m waiting for someone to come out with a double stack high capacity tube fed .22

Just as a side note... years ago Contender sold me a stock for one of my 10/22s that made it look like a Thompson machine gun... and I got a drum magazine for it.... ended up selling it to some guy out west... one of the very few guns I've let go of over the years....
