Single six 3 screw.

I am new here so maybe y'all have beaten this to death. However, I have a old model 22 single six having a SN# of 985xx and wonder about approx. value. It has only the 22LR and not magnum cylinder. I don't even know if a mag cylinder was available with sale when new. I would love to have the mag cylinder if they could be bought. Cost?
The gun is in very good condition with no modifications..

Secondly, I also have a Mark 1 22 with SN of 11-036xx and am courious of its value, it is abt 7in heavy tapered barrel.
It too is in very good condition. Not at all knowledgeable of how common either of these 2 might be.

Welcome to the forum, Jerry! I am totally unqualified to give an estimate of value on either gun, but hopefully someone will come along soon with a better idea than I have regarding value.

Jerry, greetings and welcome to the Forum,,,,need a bit more info as to the guns, as well as the overall condition ,which is paramount, as is having the original parts ( lockwork) on the single six, boxes? paper work,, etc

the single six with a 5 digit number (which puts yours at 1958) there was NOT a magnum cylinder available back , they ( the 22 magnum caliber) came out in 1959....the barrel bore diameter for your gun is smaller, so should NOT use a magnum. even if you can fit one in there........
the Mark I we need info as to which model barrel length, sights etc........

Sorry. Single six is all original. It is good or better with 80% bluing. Original grips. Only issue is on one side of cylinder there appears to have been some extremely light rust. Its not deep at all. Discolored bluing I suppose you would say. Barrel length that seems common to me measures 5 3/8. Sights are only kind I've seen on these adjust for windage only. I but I'm no expert for sure.

Yes, it is Mark 1, barrel is 6 7/8 to chamber.
Tapered heavy. Sights elevate and adj for windage. Bluing is at least 90% except for back strap and front strap??? If thats the right nomenclature!

Neither has box nor papers. Hope this helps.

Like rugerguy said the single six is a 1958 and a 22LR only the barrel is not big enough for the 22 mag bullet to pass through. With out photos of the gun my best guess from your description is 250 to 300 bucks. IMO

After serial # 150,000, the bore was slightly enlarged by .002" to work with the larger Magnum bullets. Some claim your earlier barrel size is the most accurate with 22 LR. I can't tell the difference with five different guns.

The barrel is a 6". You didn't measure the entire barrel. If you don't measure the entire barrel of a 6", it comes up 5 3/8". Or it's been modified which I doubt. Standard lengths are 4 5/8", 5 1/2", and 6".

His barrel will either be 6 1/2" or 5 1/2". There was no 6" barrelled Single Six

If it is a Single-Six 5 digit serial number gun in the 985XX range, then it is a 5 1/2 in. bl. Cat. # RSS5 The first 6 1/2 in bl guns started at 300,000

I just watched a 1962 Single Six, 5.5” barrel, sell $400.00 that was 95% in shape. Very fine piece. Only reason I didn’t buy was a1980 blue Security Six that I had to buy, next to .22
