MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. - An M-240 machine gun unaccounted for last month has been recovered, according to a spokesperson with Minot Air Force Base.

According to a release from the base, special agents with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations obtained a federal search warrant and recovered the gun in an airman’s off-base residence Tuesday.

The weapon was reported missing May 16.

No further information was released at this time since the investigation is ongoing.

The missing gun, along with a lost can of grenades, prompted a weapons inventory across eight military installations, and the security commander for the 91st Missile Wing was relieved of his duties.

He probably shot off his mouth, or rubbed someone the wrong way, and they turned him in.
In my youth I read of pirates and buried treasure, and one important part of guerilla warfare operations is learning how to cache. Hint: you don't do it on your own property.

Like all the other not so bright people in the country, he probably posted a picture of himself holding it on facebook.
