Sent an email to Mike Fifer at Ruger last December asking about Redhawk production, he said late in the first quarter of 2014. Just sent him another email and he answered that they are now in limited production. Would really like to get a .45 Colt with a 4 inch barrel. Just a heads up. It's the end of the first quarter, has Ruger gotten the Redhawk back into production yet? Thanks Brad

There's 2 or 3 threads on this subject. One member has reported, if I remember correctly, that he's seen some at his location that are 2014 production.

There moving the handgun production down south I think.

Well my to me from me will be five redhawks. Two in 357mag, two in 41mag and one in 44mag with a 9 1/2" barrel. All in stainless if I can get them.

They're in the wild! Spotted this shy one hiding in the case at Cabelas today. Look at that lovely "rack price"--$929.99

I saw a new production 5.5" 44mag at my LGS this weekend, $849.
The SA trigger was horrid, heavy with a huge amount of gritty creep, and the cylinder hung up so bad, the gun would have been almost impossible to shoot DA.
As new production gets up and running I assume Ruger will get the issues sorted out.

You know what they say about ASSUME. It is hard for me to understand how a gun in the condition you described could get off the production line into the market place. It is my understanding all new Rugers are test fired. It is not like Ruger is introducing a new revolver design into production. A new gun in that bad of condition should be sent directly back to Ruger by the vendor. Giving you the benefit of the doubt that what you say is true it would appear the quality control, which ever plant manufactured the gun, has SERIOUS quality control issues. In today's anti gun market that is another nail in the 2nd amendment coffin.
I also noticed that the Ruger web site does not have a Ruger Redhawk 44 magnum in the line up. I do not get that when in fact they are showing up in the market place. The ones I am seeing are the Redhawks with with a 5.5" barrel. I have tried to get a new one for two years with ZERO luck. What ever the case might be I feel Ruger has done a BAD job in handling the production and reintroduction of the Ruger Red Hawk. Especially in light of barrels coming off some earlier Ruger Redhawks(For what ever reason)

I just grabbed a 5.5" Redhawk .44, test fired in May of this year, from a guy on the SIG Forum. My favorite store had a new production 4" .45 Colt for sale a month or so ago.
They are few and far between, but show up here and there.

My new 7.5" .44 Redhawk was also test fired in May 2014. The double action pull is smooth as glass. I shot of over the weekend and am extremely pleased. If there are any negatives I think the finish could have been a little better but overall I am thrilled.

My local Cabela's has a 4" also, along with an Alaskan in .44 Magnum. Which Cabela's location did you visit?

Apparently Cabelas and Gander Mountain operate under the directive to charge full retail, or close to it..... and by golly it must work. I know, this is not newly plowed fertile ground, but it's always fun to take shots at them.
And. The 5.5" Hawk I bought from a gent on SIG Forum (passed up a P320 which was hard) sent me searching serial numbers. What an eye opener. The 500, 501, and 502 prefixes were burned up between 1980 and 1995. The 503's started then, and we're still counting. 19 years on the same prefix.
To me that says a lot about Ruger trying to please their baseline consumers. As I read it, they have only made roughly 5,000 Redhawks since 2010.
Hope mine is as nice as Mark's

Lacey, WA

I know that guys who work/worked at Cabelas swear they are under retail, but it sure doesn't feel like it! Only new guns I've bought there were either price matched to a cheaper store or on a sale or coupon. Used guns are also generally priced high, but every once in a while they make a mistake and price something well. Or make an ID mistake and price a rare gun or variation at a common gun price. That's why I keep going in there. : )

I'm now on a call back wait to see if they can find me one. They said the distributor had 75 of them and they are all marked sold. Price I was quoted was $800. If they find me exactly the model I want and it's good to go from the box then I would pay that Cabelas price tag. I NEED one of these in .45 Colt.

I saw quite a few .45 Colt 4" guns on Gunbroker recently, most not over $800 with some much closer to $700. I jumped on this lightly used one less than two hours after it went on sale. Hope to get it in my hands early next week.

I have the first redhawk s in 44 mag with a 5 1/2" & 7 1/2" barrels.
I'd like to match them up with the 357 mag & 41 mag redhawk s.

I hope there available before I pass on?
