Nice Redhawk!
My experience with Hogue Monogrips on a Redhawk is that the fit was absolutely horrible. Don't know about other Hogue designs.

A 357 Redhawk,, being considered a handful??? Even with full power loads,,I wouldn't think it would be bed at all.

I think the problem is you don't have a full 3", they are 2.75". Needs that extra steel out front to hold things down. I considered one for EDC for the 8-shot capacity. Went with the 2.5" GP100 7-shot as it fit in the required pocket. But I carry serious .38+P loads and would in the Redhawk also if I had one. Might load some .357 base loads as what one buys is right half of the page I'm sure. I suspect it would be a handful with factory loads also, as would mine. Won't be testing that with either.
A #8 Tyler T-Grip will fit and it helps give you a better hold on it. If you are shooting full house original ballistics loads developed in the 1930s by Phil Sharpe it would have some real recoil. Beautiful piece!!!

I love Redhawks for some reason (see my avatar). I have all calibers (357, 41, 44, & 45) but only in 5 1/2 inch barrels with one 4 1/4 inch one though.
If I see a short barreled one like yours, however, I will jump on it. It looks really fine!

I haven't shot a 3" ,357 Redhawk of the 8-shot variety.
But I have shot an older, 6-shot,, .357 Mag Redhawk,, and it was a true puddycat. Even very hot loads were mild in it.

Oh yes. Different folks have different tolerance levels to recoil.
I find, everything else being equal, any of the Redhawk's are easier to shoot than any other similar-barreled revolvers.

It ain't the recoil, it's the muzzle blast ...
I have the 4.2" 8 shot 357 Redhawk with the shrouded barrel and the Hogue Bantam grip. I love it, even with the lighter shrouded barrel, it's still a dream to shoot with full power loads, and a pussycat with 38 special power loads.
Captain Jack, yours looks like a pretty high polish, was it a special edition (like Talo or Lipsey's)?

Most full sized steel .357 handguns are not really what most would consider difficult to shoot. It seems as if you're recoil sensitive and I think that before you explore replacing the grips a decent shooting glove would serve you well.

I've written before, and others have agreed, that sometimes the Hogue Monogrip were an awful fit on the Redhawks. Besides literally everything not fitting correctly, they lowered my hand on the grip to be ridiculously below where the web of my hand should fit.
I have them on about 5 other guns and they fit superbly!
