My son-n-law has a Red Label 12 ga. He says after firing one barrel it does not switch over to the unshot barrel. This only happens occasionally. Any thoughts?

A new one with very few rounds through it? Back to Ruger.

Older one that's been shot a lot and then shot a lot more? Pull the stock, clean and lube the innards.

The Red Labels are mechanical triggers, which are more robust than recoil triggers and usually not subject to intermittent problems; they either work or they don't. Dirt or some kind of loose crud would be the most likely culprit.

Thanks for the advice. We will clean the receiver. The gun is about 10 years old but not shot too much over the years.

When you put the stock back on, remember that Ruger says 4 FT. LBs. of torque is all you want to tighten the stock bolt. Too much will spring the receiver and cause more problems. 8)
