Red Label Returning!!!!

To my eyes& with the info available so far the RLIII is simply a scaled back CSMC Revelation. I say that for lack of better words in that the Ruger is blued rather than the Ravelations case hardening. And so far, from the photos I've seen the RL doesn't offer as much figured wood as the Revelation.

Further speculation or predictions on it's success are moot, but so far sales are good.

This doesn't surprise me as the average shotgunner, if they might call themself that, has like not heard of the worlds many higher end shotgun manufacturers. There are many.

I hear ya hittman as I've done a lot with the great 870, but that doesn't take away from the premium brands & what or how they perform or who they may be. Not knowing of them is not a negative for them that's all.
Glad Ruger went with the higher road.

Review by a friend in another forum about his new Red Label... oh my
"took the new red label out, shot a pheasant with the bottom barrel. opened it up and both barrels ejected. fired and unfired land in the snow. (shot at the range with same results)
no problem, will send back to Ruger to be fixed, called customer service.
The guy on the phone tells me that's how it is supposed to be, lol. He checked with another expert and they agreed.

The picture I saw of the new Red label was very plane jane and twice as high as it should be. I love my old engraved Red Label 20 gauge. This will be a short-lived introduction.

Local shop has gotten some. I'll have to go and take a look. But at listed price the new RL is beyond my budget. I guess I'll be shooting an Italian made double 20.

The problem with the RL III is the price vs the quality of the wood, every one i have seen has had straight grain walnut of the bland variety, have yet to see one that I HAD TO HAVE because of the beauty of the wood, unlike the originals, the wood is boring.

If this model &/or collaboration fails there are a truckload of reasons that could be the culprit. Might be one reason or a combo of a few or more. Cost, IMO won't be a big factor unless it's the simple fact that it has Ruger stamped on it. That is not aimed as a putdown of Ruger, but just that it might be too far out of their market or customer base.

Otherwise,,, some obviously don't realize what a quality, dependable O/U cost, particularly ones that are made well enough that both barrels, or maybe even one of them hitting point of aim. NOT fancy wood or gold chickens n such on the side, as those are all embellishments above & beyond being made correctly.

A loaded question maybe one of the reasons for sure.

But if Beretta was to acquire Ruger one thing is likely certain, CSM is out,,,! Beretta owns at least 3 brands of O/U's. Not bloody likely they'd rebrand the $9000 plus DT-11, but might roll mark a $1700 Franchi for Ruger to have one.

My Uncle Cy ( RIP ) was a serious bird hunter. He got introduced to Franchi in the 70s while on a hunt. Never turned away from them. Always owned 3 or 4. Swore by them no matter what others in rural northern Missouri said. Heck when he told me about them I’d never heard the name. He made at least semi annual trips to SD, northern IA, MN and even Canada a few times.

Beretta hasn't hurt Franchi at all IMO. They let Benelli be them other than some styling changes, not sure who that's on.

But back in the day, nearly every serious upland bird hunter that more than 1 shotgun had a Franchi AL48. Say what ya want about foreign shotguns, but the Italians have definitely got a handle on it.
