I just acquired a Red Label 12 gauge, 1993 manufacture date, 410 Prefix. I'm looking for removable Choke Tubes. It looks like Briley and Calson's makes some that should fit. There are some that have an extension on the end. Do y'all recommend those as well? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

I ordered a set of chokes for one of my red labels from briley and they pattern well. I mainly shoot Skeet and Skeet chokes in that gun but I went with extended chokes just for ease of changing them if we decide to shoot a round of sporting clays. Briley has always taken good care of me.

As I recall mine takes Ruger proprietary tubes. The Sporting clays model used Briley tubes.

This OP got me thinking... The woodside 30 sporting clays have 2 different models the early ones are 1236 and the later are 1236-br, the br indicating briley I'm thinking the chokes don't interchange.. I'll do a test when I get a chance as I have both variations

Mine was bought new in 1993, I had to order it from my LGS.

I remember debating which one I wanted. The Sporting Clay model took Briley chokes which was a selling point.

I wanted the shorter barrels and went with the standard barrel.

I've always had a nagging feeling it was a mistake not to go either the Briley choke model.

I'm super paranoid about losing those proprietary tubes.

It was $850

Ruger offered 2 different lengths of choke tubes in the RL. For flush fitting, the early is compatible with the Winchoke, about 1 1/2" long. The later, or longer but still flush is about 2 1/12" long. Again, both are flush fitting for the given lengths. Then, companies like Briley or others may offer extended tubes that are extended past the original length & will protrude past the muzzle.

Briley offers both flush & extended for the 1.5" version & appears to only offer extended for the 2.5" version. Not hard to find if ya know what ya have in your gun. I refreshed my memory & learned by looking at Briley's website. Then I went to Carlsons & about the only thing to learn there is Ruger went to the longer tube in '93. Otherwise I can see the source of confusion here. Carlsons site wasn't very helpful IMO.

Edit to say: Oh gosh! I went to the Ruger link provided & the confusion got worse. Good luck guys.

FWIW, not sure Briley makes a tube all their own size, they just make tubes for all sorts of makes & models of shotguns. I have them in a Beretta, an SKB & A Benelli. Not inexpensive & definitely not cheap., good stuff.

So, you could have an earlier short tube RL or a later long tube & Briley offers tubes for both. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that.

And evel, I just caught your last post. Thinking you shouldn't be concerned at all, Briley offers about 10 flavors cut for that thread & size. Flush mount in black or silver, extended, ex. ported, ex. color coded, ext. etc. etc. etc.

Checked the chokes on both of my Woodsides both sporting clays models with the 30 inch barrels. As a reminder one as BR after the KWS-1236 the other doesn't have the BR . BOTH sets of chokes are the same except the BR has a Briley printed on it and that gun comes with the rotating quick wrench, The wrench in the non BR is stamped out flat metal. The quick wrench worked in both sets of chokes
